Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries has officially kicked off the game’s Winter Contingency III in-game event for Season 5 Reckoning. Running from December 19th, 2023, to January 30th, 2024, this joyous operation brings free cosmetic goodies and a playlist refresh to help Spartans celebrate the holidays in style.
Snagging Free Customisation Content
The third annual Halo Infinite Winter Contingency introduces a 20-tier Operation Pass stuffed with armour pieces, coatings, emblems, and more donning a festive theme. The free rewards enable players to deck out their multiplayer Spartans and weapons with items like the Santa-esque Winterknight helmet, frosty Ice Fissure coating, and new wintry effects.
Those seeking to fast track their unlocks can purchase premium upgrade options. A 500 credit purchase instantly unlocks bonus gear, makes the pass permanent, and grants bonus XP plus an extra challenge slot when equipped. Meanwhile, 2,000 credits immediately unlocks all tiers while packing the same perks. Both also come with the Ice Fissure coating.
Returning Playlists and New Experiences
On the gameplay front, the fan favourite Firefight PvE mode makes its return with a Fuelled by Mountain Dew variant. The challenging King of the Hill horde mode is now playable on Heroic and Legendary difficulties, bringing Jane bonus match XP and progression.
The Combat Workshop playlist also introduces an updated networking test for Halo’s frantic 3v3 Squad Battle mode. The test combines Slayer and objective types across classic maps to gather data.
