After months of anticipation, Alan Wake 2 fans finally have new nightmarish adventures to dive into with the launch of the game’s first major expansion – Night Springs.
Releasing June 8th for PlayStation 5, this trio of self-contained episodes presents unique takes on how the titular writer attempts to escape the Dark Place, a twisted version of New York.
In Night Springs, players step into the roles of three new characters heavily inspired by ones they’ve already encountered in the base game.
First up is the Number One Fan, bearing an uncanny resemblance to the waitress Rose. Armed with a trusty shotgun, she must fight through shadowy forces in pursuit of truth and love.

The second episode follows the Actor, who seems to be the Alan Wake 2 version of real-life star Shawn Ashmore crossed with Sheriff Breaker.
As the Time Breaker, he must defeat a relentless villain hunting him down. Finally, the third chapter “North Star” lets you play as the Sibling – a caffeine-fuelled hero who may be familiar to fans of Control’s Jesse Faden in a neat Remedy universe crossover.
Across all three tales, players can expect the surreal dream logic, wild twists, and meta storytelling that only the mind of Alan Wake could deliver.
The DLC expansions even incorporate different types of media like playable arcade games and comic books.
Remedy has also prepared a comprehensive Photo Mode for all Alan Wake 2 owners to access for free starting June 8th.
Inspired by protagonist Alice Wake’s love of photography, it offers pro camera controls, unique visual filters, lighting tools, and even special presets to recreate those eerie evidence photos.
Last September, it was confirmed that performance mode would be implemented. So it’s not a surprise to see Remedy incorporate additional modes to please fans.
A Boxed Collector’s Dream
In addition to Night Springs, Remedy had one more surprise announcement – Alan Wake 2 is finally getting physical release editions after initially only launching digitally.
The standard $80 Deluxe Edition arrives October 22nd bundling the base game, expansions, and a digital copy of the remastered original entry in the series.
For die-hard fans and collectors, a premium $200 Collector’s Edition follows in November packing an assortment of real-world memorabilia.
This includes a replica of the iconic Angel Lamp from the game’s universe that even lights up and flickers! Other bonuses remain under wraps for now.
With darker tales still left to unfold in the upcoming Lake House expansion, plus cool new ways to experience the game, it’s a great time to be an Alan Wake fan.
Don’t miss taking the latest freaky journeys into the night when Night Springs kicks off the celebration on June 8th!
