Alan Wake 2 DLC Roadmap

Alan Wake 2, the long-awaited sequel to 2010’s beloved supernatural thriller Alan Wake, arrives later this month and aims to thrill fans with both its core experience and extensive post-launch support. Developer Remedy Entertainment has outlined plans for significant free DLC as well as two paid expansions.

Speaking during an EGX interview, Remedy creative director Sam Lake stated that substantial free additional content drops are slated to release after Alan Wake 2’s launch. Though details remain scarce currently, Lake promised more specifics would be revealed soon post-release.

Previously Announced Night Springs and Lake House as Future Paid Extras

Two paid DLC expansions were previously announced on the official websites FAQ page entitled Night Springs and Lake House. Together with the free DLC, Remedy intends to keep players engaged with new content for some time post-launch.

This robust roadmap builds on an already expansive experience – Alan Wake 2 will clock in around 20 hours, double the length of the original game. With free and purchased extras to come, fans can expect a greatly expanded, continually evolving saga compared to the relatively modest 2010 title.

Other fan-friendly features have also been confirmed, like a 60 FPS Performance Mode catering to those who prefer smoother framerates over raw visual fidelity. The franchise just announced a crossover with popular battle royale game Fortnite, where the protagonists skin will appear in the item shop as a playable character.

For followers of Alan Wake’s surreal story, Remedy’s commitment to enhancing the experience pre and post-launch is welcome news. The original title gained a devoted cult following, but was criticised for being too short. The sequel which was pushed back to avoid the fall calendar, seems poised to deliver a fully fleshed out adventure at launch, with more to come.
