Pokémon GO Welcomes Mega Lucario in Exciting New Event
Trainers, get ready to harness the power of aura! Pokémon GO is set to introduce one of the most anticipated Mega Evolutions to the mobile game.
Mega Lucario will make its debut during the Ultra Unlock: Mega Lucario Raid Day event on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.
Mega Lucario’s arrival has been long-awaited by Pokémon GO fans. Unlike the main series games where Mega Evolution requires a Mega Stone, the augmented reality mobile title uses Mega Energy for temporary evolutions.
This system gives trainers a significant CP boost for a limited time, adding an exciting strategic element to battles and raids.
Event Highlights
The Ultra Unlock: Mega Lucario Raid Day comes packed with special features:
- Increased Raid Appearances: Mega Lucario will appear more frequently in raids during the event.
- Shiny Chance: Lucky trainers may encounter a Shiny Lucario.
- Special Move: Lucario caught in raids will know the Fast Attack Force Palm, boasting 13 power in Trainer Battles and 9 power in Gyms and raids.
- Free Raid Passes: Trainers can receive up to five additional free Raid Passes by spinning Gym Photo Discs.
- XP Boost: Enjoy 1.5× more XP from Raid Battles.
- Rare Candy XL: Increased chance to obtain Rare Candy XL from in-person Raid Battles.
Extended Remote Raid Limit
To celebrate Mega Lucario’s debut, Pokémon GO is temporarily increasing the Remote Raid limit. From Friday, July 26th, at 5:00 p.m. to Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. PDT, trainers can hold up to 20 Remote Raid Passes.
Exclusive Ticketed Bonuses
For $5.00 USD (or equivalent), trainers can purchase a special event ticket granting additional bonuses from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time on the event day:
- Eight extra Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs
- Higher chance for Rare Candy XL from Raid Battles
- Guaranteed Rare Candy XL when catching Lucario
- 3× more XP from Raid Battles
- 2× Stardust from Raid Battles
Tickets can be gifted to Great Friends or higher but are non-refundable.

Stylish New Avatar Item
Trainers can channel their inner Lucario with a new avatar item. The Lucario Mask will be available for early access purchase through the Pokémon GO Web Store starting July 22nd, alongside the Raid Day ticket.
Earlier events introduced Tandemaus and Maushold, while the upcoming Ultra Unlock: Strength of Steel event will feature the debut of shiny Togedemaru.
The mobile title recently celebrated its 8th anniversary and Niantic are gonna make sure that this July the fans get exactly what they want.
