The second major expansion, Right to Rule, is set for a summer 2025 release, featuring:

  • Two new Leaders

During the April–September window, Firaxis plans to introduce additional free content, including balance patches, gameplay events, and quality-of-life improvements. They have already confirmed that the strategy game will use Denuvo DRM on PC.

Although details on the third expansion remain scarce, Firaxis confirmed ongoing post-launch support will extend beyond October 2025.

Multiplayer Enhancements & Modding Support

In addition to content expansions, the devs have committed to refining Civilization 7’s multiplayer experience. A recent developer blog post confirmed the following improvements:

  • Expanded multiplayer lobby sizes
  • New team-based gameplay modes
  • More diverse map generation
  • Modding tools for community-driven content

The development team emphasised that these features will be released progressively, ensuring each update enhances the game without disrupting balance.

Talking about not disrupting, the dreaded 2K launcher has been removed, so you don’t need to worry about that inconvenience anymore.
