This comeback aligns with Warzone’s five-year anniversary and will launch alongside Season 3 of the game.

The return of Verdansk was initially teased for Spring 2025, but this confirmation finally provides players with a concrete date. In a post on X, Activision shared the following statement:

“As we celebrate Call of Duty: Warzone‘s 5 Year Anniversary, it’s time to revisit a place of unforgettable memories. Verdansk returns to Call of Duty: Warzone on April 3.”

This was followed by a subsequent teaser trailer showcasing glimpses of the returning battleground, which you can watch above.

Verdansk first launched with Call of Duty: Warzone on March 10th, 2020, and quickly became one of the most iconic battle royale maps in gaming.

It was eventually replaced in September 2023 by newer maps in Warzone 2.0, leaving many players longing for its return.

Since its removal, the demand for Verdansk has remained strong, with fans citing its familiar layout, diverse combat zones, and strategic depth as key reasons for wanting it back.

Now, with the battle royale landscape evolving and Activision facing community concerns over declining engagement and cheating issues, Verdansk’s return could be a critical move to restore Warzone’s momentum.

What to Expect from Verdansk in 2025

While Activision has not yet revealed specific changes to Verdansk, they have hinted at both familiar environments and new updates.

The player count for Warzone’s battle royale mode has also been increased, with Raven Software confirming in May 2024 that the cap has been raised from 100 to 120 players per match.

This adjustment is likely to enhance the gameplay dynamics of Verdansk’s large-scale engagements.

While Warzone has remained a major title in the battle royale genre, the past year has seen notable challenges.

Issues such as rampant cheating, a perceived lack of fresh content, and declining player numbers have contributed to ongoing frustration within the community.

With Verdansk’s return, Activision aims to reignite player interest and nostalgia, capitalising on what made Warzone a global success in the first place.

The developers are likely hoping that bringing back the beloved map will rekindle enthusiasm among veterans while providing a compelling battlefield for newcomers.

COD Warzone Season 3 and Black Ops 6 Release Date

The reintroduction of Verdansk coincides with the launch of Season 3 for Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

While the current battle pass suggested a March 20th reset, Activision has now confirmed that Season 3 will officially begin on April 3rd instead.

Treyarch has already confirmed that a new Black Ops 6 Endurance Moshpit Playlist will be added.

The return of Verdansk is a pivotal moment for Call of Duty: Warzone as it enters its fifth year.

With increased player counts, potential map updates, and the nostalgia factor, Activision is banking on this release to revitalise the Warzone experience.
