With this update, players can equip Kratos, Atreus, Freya, and all weapons and shields with a nostalgic black-and-gold aesthetic reminiscent of the older games.
The name Dark Odyssey originates from the codename of the original 2005 God of War title as detailed in the official PlayStation blog.
This update includes the Dark Odyssey Appearance for Kratos, a reimagining of a reward from God of War 2, previously exclusive to players who completed the game on God Mode difficulty.
In addition, players can unlock the Dark Odyssey Armor Set, a throwback to Kratos’ past battles.

While many fans celebrate the free content, speculation continues regarding the possibility of a remastered collection of the Greek-era God of War titles.
However, Santa Monica Studio has officially denied any new announcements related to a remaster during the March 22nd franchise anniversary event.
This new content serves as a bridge between past and present, celebrating the legacy of the 20-year-old franchise while giving fans something special to enjoy.
