Epic Games has officially announced that Son Heung-min, captain of South Korea’s national football team and Premier League forward for Tottenham Hotspur, is coming to Fortnite on June 21st.
As first reported by Yonhap News Agency, then confirmed by Epic, The collaboration is part of a broader strategy to expand Fortnite’s presence in Korea through culturally specific content.
The Son Heung-min bundle includes a skin based on his official football kit, a Snap Ceremony emote replicating his iconic goal celebration, the Forward Edge back accessory with a dynamic day-night style change, and the Goal Getter wrap featuring a football-inspired design.
The complete set will be available in the item shop for a limited run from June 20 to June 28. Pricing has not been officially confirmed.
Park Sung-chul, CEO of Epic Games Korea, noted that the collaboration is part of a long-term plan to deepen Fortnite’s cultural relevance in South Korea.
This initiative goes beyond skins. The current Fortnite Festival update adds rhythm game content featuring tracks from BTS’s Jungkook and Jimin, as well as K-pop groups ENHYPEN and ILLIT – further integrating Korea’s global cultural assets into the Fortnite ecosystem.
Epic Games’ senior design director Eric Williamson described Fortnite as a “digital cultural hub” that now blends gaming with fashion, sports, and music.
He noted that K-content serves both as a catalyst and experimental field for these integrations.
Son joins a growing list of world-class athletes with Fortnite skins, including Neymar Jr, Lionel Messi, LeBron James, Harry Kane, Lewis Hamilton, and Naomi Osaka.
As with his earlier appearances in PUBG and EA Sports FC 25, this crossover further cements Heung-min’s role as a transmedia sports icon.
He’s been one of the best players in the EA FC games, formally FIFA, with his special cards being considered OP (Overpowered) by the community for some years now.
The Spurs Captain recently lifted the Uefa Europa League trophy, beating Manchester United in an all-English final.
Alongside the Son bundle, Fortnite continues to build out its entertainment portfolio.
The game just concluded its Galactic Battle mini-season in collaboration with Star Wars, and Chapter 6 Season 3 introduces a superhero-themed Battle Pass featuring Robin and a James Gunn film-inspired Superman – available early via a Battle Bundle.
Additionally, dataminers have indicated that collaborations with Family Guy, King of the Hill, and Bob’s Burgers are arriving on June 13th.
