Mortal Kombat Joins Fortnite: Sub-Zero Enters the Battle Royale
Fortnite continues its trend of high-profile crossovers, with Mortal Kombat now stepping into the fray.
Epic Games has officially confirmed that Sub-Zero will be included in the Chapter 6, Season 2 Battle Pass, marking the first appearance of a Mortal Kombat character in the game. The collaboration fuels speculation that more fighters from NetherRealm’s legendary franchise could soon follow.
Sub-Zero Leads the Charge
Sub-Zero, one of Mortal Kombat’s most recognisable characters, has been revealed as a featured skin in the upcoming Battle Pass. His arrival introduces a chilling new aesthetic to Fortnite, and fans are already hoping that his long-time rival, Scorpion, will join him.
While Epic Games has not yet confirmed additional fighters, previous crossovers suggest more MK characters may arrive via the Item Shop or future updates.

The new season, dubbed “Lawless,” takes inspiration from crime, chaos, and rebellion. The latest Battle Pass includes a mix of original Fortnite characters and crossovers.
Alongside Sub-Zero, the returning fan-favourite Midas will appear with a fresh new look. Another standout skin is a humanoid pickle wearing a ski mask and a golden chain, adding an eccentric touch to the lineup.
The promotional artwork features all characters posed in a criminal line-up, reinforcing the season’s rebellious aesthetic.
This crossover highlights Warner Bros.’ increasing presence in the Fortnite metaverse. Notably, Mortal Kombat characters never made it into MultiVersus, the now-defunct platform fighter also owned by Warner Bros.
With that project winding down, the company appears to be redirecting its focus towards collaborations with established games like Fortnite.
This could open the door for future skins from franchises like DC Comics, Scooby-Doo, and Harry Potter.
The inclusion of Sub-Zero raises several questions about the future of this Fortnite x Mortal Kombat collab. Could we see Scorpion or other fan-favourites like Raiden, Liu Kang, or Mileena? Will fatalities or iconic MK moves make their way into the game as emotes or special animations?
Epic Games has yet to confirm these details, but given Fortnite’s history of evolving collaborations, it wouldn’t be surprising to see more MK-themed content in the coming weeks.
Season 6, Chapter 2 Launch Details
Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 2 officially launches on February 21st, 2025. Players looking to complete their current Battle Pass should act quickly, as time is running out to unlock the final rewards before the transition to “Lawless.”
With this latest collaboration, Fortnite continues to solidify its reputation as the ultimate crossover hub.
