Midas Skin Return to Fortnite Officially Confirmed

Midas Returns to Fortnite in Ch5S2

Key Highlights:

  • Fortnite will release a new Midas skin themed around Greek mythology.
  • The skin ties into Chapter 5 Season 2’s “Myths & Mortals” ancient Greece motif.
  • It arrives in the v29.10 update on March 19, alongside other new content.
  • This includes the return of the Floor is Lava LTM and a mythic “Chains of Hades” weapon.

Epic Games is transporting Fortnite players to the epic realm of ancient Greek legends this season and bringing back one of the battle royale’s most iconic villains in showstopping mythological fashion. The nefarious Midas and his infamous Golden Touch ability are being resurrected with an all-new skin set to debut in the upcoming v29.10 patch.

This surprise Midas makeover ties directly into Chapter 5 Season 2’s “Myths & Mortals” theme. The news was unveiled via a tweet on the Fortnite Twitter/X account which you can see below:

The new theme has transformed the island into a ancient paradise inspired by classic Greek tales and deities.

Several new map locations like Brawler’s Battleground and Mount Olympus have already immersed players in this mythic aesthetic.

But on March 19th, the Greek god fantasy kicks into an even higher gear with Midas’ dramatic re-emergence at the centre of it all.

While specific details are scarce, leaks point to the legendary boss arriving aboard the Marigold ship, a new landmark situated on the island’s western shores.

A brand new news tab in the game’s menus revealed the date to be the 19th of March, so that is now officially confirmed.

Golden Fury Awakens

For those needing a refresher, Midas was initially introduced way back in Chapter 2 Season 2 as the sadistic leader of Shadows, a nefarious organisation bent on ensuring doomsday arrived via the Device event.

Many players adopted the skin to use on their character throughout the majority of season 2 and even well-known content creator and YouTuber Nate Hill made it his own.

Midas’s iconic Golden Touch power gave him the ability to transmute any object or person into solid gold simply by making contact.

This unique trait tied perfectly into his greedy, power-hungry motivations that season and made his boss battles incredibly tense affairs.

Midas’ return for Myths & Mortals suggests he may have some new tricks up his golden sleeve inspired by classical Greek lore.

According to lore, King Midas’ golden curse was actually a misguided wish granted by the gods – not too dissimilar from Fortnite’s own deified loopers being granted abilities by The Society.

Perhaps in Epic’s reimagined tale, Midas’ obsession with golden riches stems from an ancient Greek folly that players will need to resolve.

V29.10 Content Bonanza

Regardless of his new narrative motivations, the v29.10 patch looks to be an absolute must-download for Fortnite fans. In addition to Midas’ grand re-introduction, leakers are buzzing about several other exciting additions:

  • The return of the beloved “Floor is Lava” LTM where players must build vertically to avoid deadly lava floors
  • A brand new mythic weapon called “Chains of Hades” that could pull enemies through surfaces
  • The likely return of the Golden Touch Quest Pack featuring Midas’ daughter Marigold and her own golden Touch

With so much thematic new content on the horizon, Fortnite’s latest season is truly shaping up to be an epic clash of mortals and deities for the ages.
