Key Highlights:

  • All game modes to share unified XP progression system.
  • New Music Pass launching 2nd November alongside significant marketplace changes.

Epic Games has unveiled sweeping changes to Fortnite’s progression systems, marking one of the most substantial overhauls in the game’s history. Starting December 1st, players will benefit from a streamlined experience across all game modes, including Battle RoyaleLEGO FortniteRocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival.

The most significant change centres on the unified progression system, where experience points earned in any game mode will contribute to all active passes simultaneously.

This revolutionary approach eliminates the previous fragmented system, where players needed to juggle multiple currencies and progression tracks.

Epic Games made the announcement via social site X/Twitter to their 19M followers. The company is retiring several in-game currencies, including Festival Points on 2nd November, followed by Battle Stars and Studs on 1st December.

This consolidation aims to create a more straightforward and rewarding experience for players across all Fortnite game modes.

Marketplace Evolution

The marketplace is also receiving a substantial update.

Players will soon have the option to purchase individual rewards directly, rather than buying entire pass levels.

This consumer-friendly approach allows for more targeted cosmetic acquisition, especially appealing to players interested in specific items.

Epic has also hinted at introducing a streamlined option to purchase all premium passes in one transaction.

The timing of these changes coincides with several other significant updates.

The new Music Pass (formerly Festival Pass) debuts on 2nd November, serving as one of the first passes to implement the new progression system.

Additionally, future Music and LEGO Passes will feature a simplified structure with a single track containing both free and premium rewards.

These modifications arrive as Chapter 5 Season 4 concludes, with the current Marvel-themed Absolute Doom Battle Pass entering its final days.

Players have until 2nd November to complete their current Battle Pass objectives before the new season begins.

Looking ahead, the community is still enjoying Fortnitemares 2024 and the newly added Ranked Reload mode.

Epic has promised additional details about Fortnite Remix Chapter 2 before the 2nd November update.

The restructuring represents Epic Games’ commitment to evolving Fortnite beyond its battle royale roots into a comprehensive gaming platform.

By streamlining the progression system and reward structure, the company aims to create a more accessible and enjoyable experience for its diverse player base.
