Nintendo Switch 2 early adopters won’t be short on exclusive content this summer, as at least four titles ranging from major platformers to creative new IP, are set to roll out between July and August.
Following a strong launch headlined by Mario Kart World, Nintendo is now looking to maintain momentum by offering both fresh releases and upgraded editions tailored specifically for the new hardware.
Leading the pack is Donkey Kong Bananza, set to launch on July 17th.
This marks Donkey Kong’s first 3D platformer since Donkey Kong 64, featuring destructible environments, a revamped character model, and gameplay that draws comparisons to Super Mario Odyssey.
The scale and presentation suggest this is positioned as the Switch 2’s next big showcase title, offering an ambitious blend of nostalgia and innovation.
Upgraded Classics with Exclusive Content
Also arriving this summer are reimagined editions of Super Mario Party Jamboree and Kirby and the Forgotten Land, each offering Switch 2-specific content via optional $19.99 upgrade packs.
Jamboree’s upgrade drops on July 24th, bringing visual enhancements, improved framerate, and all-new modes built around the Switch 2’s mouse, microphone, and camera functions.
Meanwhile, Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Star-Crossed World expands on the beloved platformer with new copy abilities and a story-driven expansion launching on August 28th.
While these games originated on the original Switch, the additions are not superficial.
In Kirby’s case especially, the added story content and mechanical tweaks offer enough to reframe it as a semi-sequel for players already familiar with the core game.
Original IP and Future Planning
Though no exact date is given yet, Drag x Drive is expected before summer ends.
This brand-new IP focuses on basketball played from wheelchairs, leveraging Joy-Con mouse features for control.
It’s an intriguing attempt to carve out more unique multiplayer offerings on the Switch 2, which has so far leaned heavily on single-player showcase titles.
Looking further ahead, Disgaea 7 Complete, revealed by NIS America – is set for Fall 2025 and will launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2.
It includes the base game plus seven DLCs and new features like uncapped stats, infernal weapons, and a bonus episode that introduces new main character Asagi.
Pre-orders are open for two premium versions: the $99.99 Ewwdo Edition with collector’s items and the $69.99 Deluxe Edition featuring a poster and stickers.
Despite the confirmed summer releases, Nintendo’s Fall 2025 calendar remains sparse outside of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Kirby Air Riders, neither of which have locked in dates.
Anticipation is now building for a rumoured Nintendo Direct presentation that could clarify what’s next and whether more first-party titles are nearing announcement.
The fact that we’re coming off the back of one of the most anticipated and exciting console launches of the year, it’d be a safe bet to think that a Direct event is coming soon.
The Japanese gaming giants can literally give a full roadmap of what to expect for not just the rest of this year, but the future too, in regards to the Switch 2.
Until then, Donkey Kong Bananza and the trio of enhanced and original experiences represent a confident step forward for Nintendo’s new platform.
It recently hit over 3.5 million units sold in four days to make it the fastest-selling console in the company’s history.
With more exclusives now clearly in the pipeline, Switch 2’s post-launch catalogue is gaining both variety and depth, and it’s only just the beginning.
