Frontier Developments has officially confirmed the release of Update 6 for Planet Coaster 2, scheduled to go live on June 30th 2025.

The free content update builds on the sequel’s foundation with more creative tools, additional ride management systems, and the return of fan-favourite themes from the original game.

After months of regular updates since its late 2024 launch, Planet Coaster 2 continues to expand its creative toolkit, this time introducing modular souvenir shops.

Players can now construct fully custom retail spaces using modular components. Each shop can be fitted with registers, display shelves, and themed props, and allows for custom merchandising like mugs and plush toys.

Larger blueprint versions using the classic Planet Coaster style are also available for quicker deployment.

A major highlight in this update is the new photo kiosk system, which ties in directly with ride placement and guest reactions.

Cameras can be installed on coasters to automatically capture on-ride photos at specific moments, with players needing to strategically place them for maximum emotional impact.

These photos can then be sold through kiosks and displayed on billboards using in-game assets.

ON-RIDE PHOTOS

  • Let your guests take home a piece of their adventure with new on-ride photos!
  • Place the camera strategically on your ride to capture the best shots! Aim for better quality photos to encourage more guests to buy them
  • Link the ride camera to a photo kiosk so pictures can be bought by guests

PIRATE AND FAIRYTALE THEMES

  • Two fan-favourite themes from the original Planet Coaster make their debut in Planet Coaster 2
  • Add whimsy and enchantment with the medieval stylings of the Fairytale theme
  • Set sail on thrilling adventures with the Pirate theme and unleash the Kraken with the return of a beloved animatronic!

RIDES

  • The dizzying Coriolis flat ride will be making its comeback from the original Planet Coaster! Re-built from the ground up, we hope you and your guests will enjoy it.
  • Enjoy two more standard “de-themed” versions of coasters: the Big M’s Rides – Water Coaster and the Movement Construction – Mine Train.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • New audio enhancements! Control your speakers with volume sliders.
  • Playlists are now available for your speakers: there will be a selection of 15 playlists to choose from to create the perfect atmosphere in your park areas!
  • We’ve also increased the scenery piece limit when saving out blueprints.

For long-time fans, the return of the Pirate and Fairytale themes brings back two of the original game’s most popular styles. Each theme includes animated and static scenery items, ambient music, triggered SFX, and custom fonts to help players stylise their parks.

These classic themes are fully integrated into Planet Coaster 2’s updated systems and compatible with all current building tools.

Elsewhere, Big M’s Water Coaster and Movement Construction’s Mine Train now have “standard” versions without default theming. These variants are intended to offer greater creative freedom for players looking to implement their own visual ideas.

Update 6 also adds more animation variants for moving platforms, offering new speed settings to improve pathing and timing options in ride design.

Additionally, the long-requested Coriolis ride makes a comeback. Fully rebuilt to meet the standards of Planet Coaster 2’s visual and mechanical systems, the flat ride provides a nostalgic but refined experience for returning players.

Rounding off the update, Career Mode Act 4 maps are being added to Sandbox mode, allowing creators to use narrative-driven spaces as the foundation for new projects.

Frontier is also including 20 new profile stickers, expanding personalisation options within the in-game franchise tools.
