Frontier Developments has rolled out Update 2 for Planet Coaster 2, delivering a wave of new features and refinements aimed at enhancing park simulation and guest management.
This latest update introduces customisable video billboards, synchronised ride launches, and a range of quality-of-life improvements, responding to community feedback since the game’s launch in November 2024.
A new highlights video was uploaded to YouTube which showcased all of the new additions to the strategy title and you can view that video above.
Customisable Video Billboards
One of the most exciting additions is the ability to place video billboards anywhere in your park, displaying a variety of pre-set advertisements for rides, mascots, and food brands.
PC players gain even more creative freedom, with the option to upload their own .webm video files and custom images.
Game director Rich Newbold elaborated on how these billboards integrate with the park’s sound system:
“The billboards in your park will be playing the audio from your videos out into the park, but you have the ability to connect existing speakers so that it will actually play through the speaker itself.”
This means park managers can not only customise visual branding but also control audio cues, creating a fully immersive experience for guests.
Ride Synchronisation and New Additions

Another major feature in this update is ride synchronisation, allowing players to time the launch of multiple coasters and flumes simultaneously.
This is particularly useful for creating thematic experiences where multiple rides begin together for cinematic effect.
Additionally, new “de-themed” versions of existing coasters have been introduced, providing a blank slate for more customisation. The update also sees the return of the Pathos III flat ride, a spinning attraction that hurls riders through the air like a giant fidget spinner.
Adjustments and Quality-of-Life Enhancements
Beyond the headline features, Planet Coaster 2 continues to refine the core simulation with key enhancements:
- Guest Navigation Overhaul: Guests now react more intelligently to closed rides, with improved pathfinding and queue behaviour.
- Multi-Select Tool Upgrade: Enhanced filters allow for easier selection and manipulation of objects.
- Path and Pool Tool Preview: Players can now preview path and pool styles before placement, preventing unnecessary reworks.
- Notification Customisation: Players can toggle in-game notifications on or off to streamline management alerts.
Major Bug Fixes
This update also includes numerous bug fixes, addressing some of the more unusual guest behaviours. Notable fixes include:
- Guests no longer flee the park in swimwear when it is manually closed.
- Fixed guest “desperation” loop where they would become stuck in queue lines after a ride shutdown.
- Resolved perpetual panic bug, where guests remained in a “struck by an object” state indefinitely after colliding with others in water rides.
