Ubisoft has announced the arrival of New Game Plus for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, arriving 5 December as part of a free major update across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. The feature has been one of the most requested by fans since launch and is aimed squarely at players seeking a more challenging return to the Western Frontier.
New Game Plus allows players to replay the full campaign with their existing skills, equipment, and inventory. However, this isn’t simply a repeat experience. Ubisoft has confirmed that enemy difficulty has been scaled up, offering a more formidable resistance throughout the narrative.
To further reward returning players, the mode introduces an exclusive skill tree and access to more powerful gear not available in standard runs.
These additions encourage deeper experimentation with combat and traversal, while also adding long-term replayability to the game’s open-world structure.
Omar Bouali, creative director at Massive Entertainment, described the update as a “celebration of our community’s passion,” highlighting the studio’s ambition to evolve the game’s world in response to player feedback.
The update follows two paid story expansions – The Sky Breaker and Secrets of the Spires – but those narrative packs will remain locked during New Game Plus runs.
Even so, the new skill progression and enemy tuning offer a compelling reason to revisit the game’s central storyline, particularly for those who have already reached endgame power levels.
A third-person option is also coming in the same update on Dec 5th, so there will be plenty of new features for players to get stuck into, come the end of the year.
With the cinematic release of Avatar: Fire and Ash just around the corner on 19 December, Ubisoft has also slashed the base game’s price by up to 70% for a limited time. That makes it an ideal moment for new players to jump in and for returning players to test their skills in the tougher New Game Plus challenge.
