Key Highlights:
- Tekken 8 Armour King gameplay trailer revealed at EVO.
- Miary Zo, an original fighter from Madagascar, joins the roster in Winter 2025 alongside a new stage.
- Season 2 DLC continues with early access for pass holders and expanded character count to 39.
Armour King was finally unveiled during EVO, the returning fan-favourite looks more brutal than ever. The “Dark Supernova” has been reimagined with a fiery mane and an explosive moveset that blends powerful grapples, precision strikes and a relentless wrestling style.
Armour King launches officially in Tekken 8 on October 16th, but early access begins October 13th for Season 2 Character Pass holders. He takes the roster count to 39 fighters, continuing Tekken 8’s push to merge legacy characters with new systems and visual upgrades.
While Armour King dominated the EVO spotlight with his full gameplay reveal, Bandai Namco also confirmed the next and final character in the Season 2 DLC lineup: Miary Zo. As the first original fighter introduced as downloadable content in Tekken 8, Miary Zo adds a fresh identity to the roster. She hails from Madagascar, and her reveal trailer, though short, offered an atmospheric glimpse of her homeland.
The new accompanying stage is set against Madagascar’s unique landscape, featuring warm sun-drenched baobab trees and architecture steeped in the island nation’s character. There’s been no deep dive into her fighting style yet, and initial reactions seem muted in contrast to the thunder of Armour King’s return. That could change quickly once gameplay is shown.
Miary’s Winter 2025 arrival gives Bandai Namco room to build momentum over the coming months. The team has confirmed that more details about her fighting mechanics, abilities, and narrative arc will be released as her launch draws near.
With Season 2 now halfway through its DLC content, Bandai Namco have also released update 2.04 today, which brings with it the Seaside Pack and Beach Fun Pack, but no gameplay tweaks.
