Bandai Namco has officially confirmed the arrival of Fahkumram in Tekken 8, scheduled for release on July 7th for Season 2 Character Pass owners and July 10th as a standalone purchase.
Introduced during the Combo Breaker 2025 finals, the announcement came paired with a full gameplay trailer highlighting his distinct Muay Thai style – built around brutal knee strikes, elbows, powerful kicks, and signature lightning-based attacks.
His moveset leans heavily into traditional Thai martial arts, amplified with cinematic flair.
Fahkumram’s return follows his Tekken 7: Fated Retribution debut, where his tragic backstory and forced participation in the King of Iron Fist Tournament were explored.
In Tekken 8, his story continues in a new campaign chapter included with Patch 2.03.
This update aims to reintegrate the character not just through gameplay, but within the larger narrative.
Cosmetically, players can expect three alternate outfits upon his release, adding variety for online and ranked play.
Fahkumram’s design reflects both cultural authenticity and the series’ continued investment in visual impact.
Armour King re-enters the ring this fall
The final seconds of the Fahkumram trailer dropped a major reveal: Armour King will return to Tekken 8 in Autumn 2025 as the third Season 2 character.
A long-requested veteran, Armour King hasn’t appeared in a mainline title since the last entry, where he was added via DLC.
Armour King’s fighting style contrasts with King’s more grappling-centric repertoire. His offence incorporates heavy striking techniques, blending elements of karate, kickboxing, and professional wrestling.
While his Tekken 8 moveset is yet to be shown, historical patterns suggest a hybrid brawler with mid-range power, likely retaining combos from Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Tekken 6, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Tekken 8 Season 2 course-corrects with live updates
Fahkumram and Armour King arrive at a pivotal time for Tekken 8, which faced significant backlash following its Season 2 launch.
The update, which introduced controversial balance changes, drew criticism across the competitive community, prompting a formal apology from executive producer Katsuhiro Harada in May.
The studio quickly reinstated Kohei “Nakatsu” Ikeda, the former balance lead for Tekken 7 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2, to address the concerns.
Under Nakatsu’s renewed leadership, Bandai Namco has issued several emergency patches to stabilise gameplay, improve character viability, and address the widespread imbalance.
Fahkumram’s design, paired with his July release, reflects this renewed focus on mechanical clarity and fair play.
Tekken 8 continues to stagger its DLC character announcements, favouring individual reveals over full seasonal lineups – a strategy that builds hype but risks alienating early pass buyers who expect a clearer picture of future content.
With Anna Williams, Fahkumram, and Armour King now confirmed, only one more Season 2 fighter remains.
According to internal developer commentary, the final slot will introduce a brand-new character to the franchise. The above gameplay trailer also has the words (New Challenger) with a question mark under the final slot, suggesting that the next character will make their debut rather than return.
Tekken 8 is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Fahkumram arrives July 7th for early access users, with general availability on July 10th. Armour King will release during Autumn 2025.
As Bandai Namco works to regain player trust, the remainder of Season 2 will be crucial in determining the game’s long-term competitive viability and community support.
