Hello Games has dropped No Man’s Sky Breach, a timely October update that leans into the custom corvette systems from Voyagers and pushes them further.
Expedition 20 sends players into a desolate branch of the universe to pick through graveyards of wrecked corvettes, then turn what they salvage into new builds. It is a smart follow-on to August’s surge, when Voyagers helped drive one of the game’s strongest player counts in years.
The loop is clean. Exit your ship, spacewalk across hulks, cut free modules with the multi-tool, and take them back to a corvette workshop. The key is variety, Breach adds Atlas-styled parts alongside practical wedge modules, new jets, turrets, and exterior pieces that fill long-standing gaps in silhouettes.
The result is more control over shaping noses, flanks, and rounded plates, so designs that were awkward before are now realistic. The workshop also lets you apply a colour palette to the entire corvette in one go, which cuts busywork when you are iterating on paint schemes.
The expedition’s route favours the eerie. Ominous systems with purple stars, volatile gas giants, and abyssal oceans set the mood for Halloween. If you stumble on a standout planet, drop a base computer or teleporter while the expedition seed is active. In past expeditions, a couple of worlds were worth returning to long after the event wrapped, and that pattern tends to repeat.
Rewards follow the usual mix of cosmetics and function. Expect decorative posters plus ship modules that have both visual and practical value. That balance matters in a builder like this. I have always felt No Man’s Sky is at its best when progression opens fresh shapes as well as fresh stats, and Breach sticks to that approach.
Quality of life quietly carries a lot of weight here. Improved snapping, sturdier collisions, and a fix to let you recolour a whole corvette at once are the changes you feel every minute you are building. The team has also continued to sand down rough edges from Voyagers, including several long-standing corvette quirks, so the day-to-day experience is smoother whether you fly in first person, VR, or standard third person.
The best sign is momentum, this is the second substantial update in under three months, and it arrives with the kind of focused theme that keeps the game fresh without bloating the ruleset. There was patch 6.02 that addressed key bugs in shipbuilding, but that was a small update after Voyagers released. Breach is also another reminder that Hello Games is not done with No Man’s Sky, even while it ramps up its next project. Light No Fire still has no date, but the studio is asking players to wishlist it, which usually precedes a thicker info run.
