The new No Man’s Sky Voyagers update might be one of the most ambitious yet, adding large-scale ship customisation, the ability to step outside into deep space, and shared starship experiences with friends. It’s available to download now across all platforms.
The biggest addition comes in the form of Corvette-class vessels, vast ships that players can design both inside and out.
Unlike the smaller explorers or the more functional freighters, Corvettes blend the freedom of personal starships with the scale of capital ships. Their interiors include med bays, crew quarters, war rooms, and even decorative modules, letting you build a vessel that feels alive and personal.
I’ve spent years chasing down rare ship finds in No Man’s Sky, but the idea of piecing together my own dream craft changes the experience completely. It makes the ship feel less like a tool and more like a companion.
Shipbuilding has been reworked from the ground up, with hundreds of new modules covering hulls, wings, cockpits, engines, thrusters, and more.
Interiors are multi-storey and modular, giving players freedom to arrange rooms and windows as they see fit. Watching the universe streak past at warp from a hand-placed observation deck feels like something straight out of classic sci-fi.
For those who enjoy playing in groups, these ships allow friends to join as crew members, helping to operate the vessel or simply hang out while travelling between systems.
Multiple Corvettes flying together creates moments that feel almost cinematic, especially when players open the hatches mid-flight to spacewalk or even skydive between ships.
Beyond the headline ships, Voyagers also introduces spacewalking outside your vessel, a ship autopilot system, new habitation modules, expanded cockpit options, improved lighting and glass effects, and major performance features such as DLSS4 on PC and PSSR on PS5 Pro.
Controller remapping has been fully implemented, and the update includes hundreds of refinements across all aspects of gameplay.
Hello Games has even designed a new expedition to help players unlock Corvette parts quickly, ensuring both newcomers and veterans can dive into building without a long grind.
It’s clear the studio has poured years of work into rethinking how starships function in the game. Almost every system has been adapted to allow walking inside moving ships while entire planets stream in seamlessly outside.
The scale of that achievement shouldn’t be underestimated.
Note: Xbox Series X players have run into a frustrating bug where the game boots to a black screen with only audio playing. The issue appears tied to HDR settings, with some users reporting success by disabling HDR10 in the console’s Video Modes and turning off any automatic HDR options on their TVs. Others have had to disable Dolby Vision as well before the game would display properly. While the fix isn’t universal, it’s helped enough players to suggest HDR is the culprit, though it’s clearly something Hello Games will need to patch soon.
Just to be clear, the workaround involves this:
- Settings -> TV & Display Options -> Video Modes and turning off “Allow HDR10,”
This update also shares some of the technology being developed for Hello Games’ next project, Light No Fire. That crossover of tech explains how Voyagers manages to pull off such feats while still running smoothly.
For me, the most exciting part is how this update shifts the core identity of the game. Ships were always central to No Man’s Sky, but being able to build, live in, and crew them with friends makes them feel like true characters in the story.
Already this year we’ve been treated to Worlds Part II and Relics update, and this looks like it’ll be the last massive addition this year.
The full patch notes are gigantic, and if you want to check them out for yourself, then make sure to visit the official website here.
With Voyagers, No Man’s Sky continues its transformation from a survival game into a living sci-fi simulator. After nearly ten years of constant updates, it’s remarkable to see Hello Games still finding ways to surprise players. If Voyagers is any sign of where the game is heading, the next decade might be just as exciting as the last.
