Endnight Games has officially announced Forest 3, unveiling the next entry in its survival horror series during The Game Awards 2025. The reveal came with a debut trailer that immediately set a different tone from previous games, leaning far more heavily into science fiction than fans might have expected.
The trailer opens with a character aboard a spacecraft before a sudden disruption sends them crashing onto an unfamiliar and hostile world. First-person footage showcases advanced technology, including futuristic structures, holographic elements, and equipment that appears far beyond anything seen in The Forest or Sons of the Forest. There are glimpses of alien landscapes, crashed vessels, and hostile environments that suggest a broader scope than earlier entries.
While much of the trailer focuses on its sci-fi elements, the closing moments pivot back toward the unsettling atmosphere the series is known for. Fog-filled environments and disturbing creature designs make it clear that survival horror remains central to the experience.
One particularly striking moment hints at a massive, Lovecraftian-style threat, suggesting that Forest 3 will not abandon the sense of dread that defined its predecessors.

In my Sons of the Forest review, I said that Endnight’s ambition was both the game’s greatest strength and its biggest risk. The studio pushed survival horror forward with smarter AI, deeper systems, and a far larger, more detailed world, even if that ambition sometimes strained performance and clarity. Seeing Forest 3 lean so heavily into science fiction already suggests Endnight is doubling down on that same mindset, expanding the series in bold and unpredictable directions rather than playing it safe.
For the time being, Endnight appears content to let the trailer raise questions rather than answer them, leaving Forest 3 as one of the most intriguing unknowns to come out of The Game Awards 2025.
