Key Highlights:

  • Capcom will host a Resident Evil Showcase on 15 January with new gameplay and developer insight.
  • The stream is expected to focus entirely on Resident Evil Requiem ahead of its 27 February launch.
  • Leon Kennedy features heavily in the teaser, with new combat details hinted.

Capcom has confirmed a new Resident Evil Showcase for 15 January at 10pm UK time. The publisher released a short teaser ahead of the event, and while it only ran for ten seconds, it was enough to give fans a clear idea of where the focus lies. Resident Evil Requiem will headline the stream, with new gameplay and developer commentary promised.

The teaser shows Leon Kennedy locked in melee combat with a chainsaw-wielding zombie wearing a lab coat. The encounter appears to confirm that Leon can parry melee attacks in Requiem, similar to the defensive options from the Resident Evil 4 remake. A very brief shot also shows first-person aiming down sights, hinting at a mechanical shift from Resident Evil 7 and Village, where aiming was more centre-screen than ADS based. Requiem’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, is also visible for a moment, suggesting developer interviews will form part of the showcase.

Requiem has been building momentum since its announcement trailer during Summer Game Fest 2025, where new protagonist Grace Ashcroft and a return to Raccoon City were first confirmed. Leon’s role remained a point of speculation for months, especially after Capcom publicly denied his involvement several times and even described him as a bad match for horror during a June 2025 Capcom Spotlight.

His appearance during The Game Awards finally settled the debate and confirmed his co-star status alongside Grace in the third trailer reveal.

From what I have seen and heard, Capcom seems to be positioning Requiem as a dual-identity entry. Rumours suggest Leon’s segments skew closer to action horror in the style of Resident Evil 4, while Grace’s sections lean back into the slower survival horror pacing of Resident Evil 7. If true, that split could let Capcom satisfy both branches of modern Resident Evil fans without compromising tone.

Despite the branding implying a wider franchise overview, current footage and narration indicate the showcase will be focused purely on Requiem. That does not rule out surprises entirely. Known leakers have claimed that remakes of Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica are in development, but Capcom has not acknowledged them and nothing in the teaser hints at broader announcements.

For now, the publisher is being unusually clear about what will be shown.

The Resident Evil Showcase airs 15 January at 10pm UK / 2pm PT / 5pm ET and is expected to run for around twelve minutes. Resident Evil Requiem launches on 27 February for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
