Bohemia Interactive has announced that DayZ will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, bringing the long-running survival game to Nintendo’s newest platform for the first time.
The reveal came during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct alongside a new trailer showcasing the open-world survival experience. DayZ will arrive as part of the Cool Edition Bundle, which includes both the base game and the DayZ Frostline expansion.
Bohemia confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version will support several features designed around the console’s hardware. Players will be able to use gyro controls and Joy-Con mouse mode, offering new ways to navigate the post-apocalyptic world and engage in combat.
The studio described the release as an important milestone for the franchise. With tens of thousands of active players across existing platforms, the move to Nintendo Switch 2 aims to introduce a new audience to DayZ’s hardcore survival gameplay and player-driven stories.
The one worry is the servers, as has been the case on PlayStation and Xbox for a while. Knowing the difference between Official vs. Community Servers and a bunch of other info is a must if you’re laying this game.
Unlike traditional games with structured missions, DayZ places players in a hostile environment with one objective: survive. There are no built-in tutorials, extra lives or save points. Every decision carries consequences, and a single mistake can bring an end to a character’s journey.
Bohemia is also encouraging its veteran community to help newcomers adapt to the game’s unforgiving world. According to the developer, the stories players create remain at the heart of the DayZ experience.
As additional context, DayZ has continued to evolve for more than a decade with regular updates and community support. The game features large open environments, survival mechanics, crafting, hunting, vehicles and encounters with up to 60 players at a time. Players can choose to cooperate, fight or simply carve out their own path, creating unique stories with every life.
DayZ is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC through Steam, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version scheduled to arrive later this year.
