Snoop Dogg has joined HITMAN World of Assassination as Dr. Cyrus Cane in The Herbalist, a new Celebrity Elusive Target mission available for free until September 26, 2026.
The rapper provides both his likeness and voice for Cane, an eccentric cannabis farmer and edibles entrepreneur who has transformed Haven Island into the centre of a high-tech cannabis business. Agent 47’s contract centres on Cane’s upcoming Morsizzles cookie launch and evidence connecting internal product testing to several deaths.
Cane is hosting a pre-launch party at his Haven Island mansion for investors, influencers and food industry figures. Agent 47 must infiltrate the gathering, eliminate Cane and prevent Morsizzles from reaching the market.
Snoop Dogg’s arrival also introduces a significant change to how HITMAN handles celebrity Elusive Targets.
The Herbalist is the first Elusive Target to receive a Special Assignment, a new permanent mission format designed to remove several restrictions traditionally associated with these events. Special Assignments allow players to save and load, play offline and complete both standard and mission-specific challenges.
Traditional Elusive Targets remain much harsher.
The standard version of The Herbalist is only available during its limited event period and retains the familiar one-chance structure. Elusive Target Arcade provides another version with increased difficulty, but failure resets progress and activates a 30-minute cooldown before another attempt.
Special Assignments instead behave more like permanent campaign missions.
I think that change is more important than Snoop Dogg’s celebrity appearance itself because it addresses one of HITMAN’s longstanding preservation problems: bespoke missions containing unique characters, dialogue and environments no longer have to disappear behind a limited-time structure.
The distinction also affects free players.
Anyone using the HITMAN World of Assassination Free Demo can play The Herbalist Assignment during the event period without owning the Haven Island location. Access to the traditional Elusive Target itself still requires Haven Island through HITMAN 3 Access Pass: HITMAN 2 Expansion, HITMAN Deluxe Edition or HITMAN World of Assassination Deluxe Pack.
Existing owners with the required location can therefore tackle the original Elusive Target, while the Free Demo gives newcomers access through the more forgiving Special Assignment version.
There are free rewards attached to the event as well.
Launching the traditional Elusive Target unlocks The Green G Fit, an outfit combining a patterned green leather trench coat, matching two-piece clothing, trainers, sunglasses and a gold chain.
Players with a linked IOI Account can also unlock the Dank Duck by playing The Herbalist during its active period. The proximity device releases sedative gas when somebody approaches it, knocking the target unconscious rather than exploding.
Permanent access requires the separate Herbalist Pack.
Priced at £6.99/$7.99/€7.99, the DLC includes The Herbalist Assignment alongside The Visionary, a two-level Elusive Target Arcade contract featuring Dr. Cyrus Cane.
The Special Assignment contains 16 challenges.
Eleven are familiar assassination challenges including Silent Assassin, Silent Assassin Suit Only, Sniper Assassin, Tasteless Traceless, Straight Shot and Versatile Assassin. Five custom challenges called Local Knowledge, The Stark Reality, Accelerated Timeline, Premium Seating, The Unfrying and For Science! are built specifically around The Herbalist.
The Herbalist Pack also adds several Snoop Dogg-themed unlocks.
Players receive the Entrepreneur Fur Coat and Hustler Tracksuit outfits, alongside a fully automatic weapon called The Smoke, a gold-and-diamond Ryte LX2 Custom Mic, throwable Morsizzles Cookies and the Big Biz Briefcase.
Four additions for the Freelancer Safehouse are included as well: an outside barbecue area, relaxation room with snacks, pool and car. Each becomes available after reaching its required Safehouse level.
Nintendo players have a slightly different release schedule.
The Herbalist mission itself is available across HITMAN’s supported platforms, including Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, but IO Interactive says the Herbalist Pack will not arrive on Nintendo hardware until September 4.
The wider Season of the Herbalist extends well beyond Snoop Dogg’s mission.
A separate Getaway Pack adds new suits, weapons and Freelancer cosmetics, while returning Elusive Targets include The Politician, The Chameleon, The Ascensionist, The Surgeons and The Bad Boy.
Sean Bean’s The Undying also returns from September 25 to October 26.
The returning celebrity mission will become the next existing Elusive Target to receive a Special Assignment, following the new format introduced with The Herbalist. Owners of the corresponding celebrity DLC will automatically receive its Special Assignment at no additional cost when that mission returns.
Additional free challenges include Bloom Where You Are Planted on Ambrose Island, which rewards the silenced ICA19 Spider Lily pistol, and Fortune Favors the Bold in Hokkaido, offering the Lucky Coin.
The season also contains four Twitch Drop periods.
The Purple Streak Proximity Explosive is available first, followed by the Purple Streak Baseball Bat, Green Grapes and Purple Streak Crowbar across September and October.
The Herbalist continues an unusually active run of celebrity collaborations for World of Assassination.
Milla Jovovich appeared as Lilith Devereux earlier in 2026, Bruce Lee returned as Agent Lee, and Wiz Khalifa became Elusive Target Taylor “The Wizard” Graves in June. Eminem’s battle against Slim Shady also returned immediately before the current season.
Snoop Dogg’s mission differs from those earlier appearances because its arrival also marks a structural change to the programme itself.
IO Interactive says the expanded DLC format follows community requests for greater freedom when replaying Celebrity Elusive Targets. Future celebrity packs will now combine the traditional Arcade contract with a save-enabled, offline Special Assignment, providing a permanent way to revisit missions that previously revolved around limited availability.
The Herbalist is available now across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, PS VR2, PC VR, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Mac. The free event runs until September 26, while purchasing the Herbalist Pack provides permanent access to its Special Assignment and Arcade versions.
