Rayman Legends Retold Delayed

Key Highlights:

  • Rayman Legends Retold has been delayed from October 1 to December 3, 2026, despite already going gold.
  • Ubisoft says the extra 63 days will be used to give the remake’s remaining details more attention before launch.
  • A new Game Overview trailer and fresh hands-on impressions from press and creators are coming on September 22.

Despite already going gold, Rayman Legends Retold has been delayed from October 1 to December 3, 2026, giving Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan another 63 days before release.

Ubisoft says the development team has decided to take additional time to make sure “every detail gets the care it deserves”. The publisher has not identified a particular technical problem or feature responsible for the delay.

Going gold normally means the release build has reached the stage needed for manufacturing and platform preparation. It does not prevent developers from continuing work on patches, optimisation or other changes before players actually receive the game.

That makes the timing of this delay particularly unusual. Rayman Legends Retold was only 17 days away from its original October 1 release date when Ubisoft announced the change via social media on September 14.

The delay also comes after players have already had substantial access to the remake.

Ubisoft brought Rayman Legends Retold to Gamescom 2026 in August, where visitors could play a roughly 20-minute demonstration covering the opening level, a new dragon ride and one of its musical stages.

I think the combination of a completed gold build and recent public hands-on sessions makes this look more like additional refinement time than a project suddenly running into fundamental development trouble.

Players will not have to wait until December for another look at it.

Ubisoft has scheduled a new Game Overview trailer for September 22. A selection of creators and press will also publish fresh hands-on impressions on the same day, giving players another opportunity to see how the remake is shaping up before launch.

The new date does not change the announced platforms. Ubisoft’s updated game page now lists December 3 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, alongside GeForce Now and Blacknut.

The game is considerably more ambitious than a straightforward visual remaster.

When Rayman Legends Retold was announced in June, Ubisoft confirmed a rebuilt 3D presentation, a new story, fully voiced cinematics, a previously unseen sixth realm, four additional musical stages and new dragon-riding sequences. Rayman Legends Retold was announced in June

The full adventure supports up to four players through couch co-op, while Kung Foot returns as Kung Foot Evo with improved ball control, power-ups and more configurable rules.

Every standard copy also includes Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition. Ubisoft has upgraded the earlier platformer with 4K resolution, 60 FPS support, new collectibles and rewards, haptic feedback on compatible controllers and other quality-of-life changes.

The Deluxe Edition additionally includes four retro costumes and an in-game Art Gallery, while pre-orders still advertise the Hoodlum Havoc Pack with Rayman and Globox outfits inspired by Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.

Ubisoft has not said that competition from October and November releases influenced the decision. The move does push Rayman into a quieter December window, but attributing the delay to games such as Call of Duty, Zelda or Grand Theft Auto would currently be speculation rather than the publisher’s stated reason.

For now, December 3 is the new confirmed launch date. The September 22 gameplay showcase should provide the first indication of what Ubisoft is doing with the extra development time after the remake reached gold status.
