Key Highlights:

  • Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble has been cancelled before its planned global release on Android and iOS.
  • The game will be removed from the App Store and Google Play on November 21, 2026, with servers shutting down permanently on May 1, 2027.
  • In-app purchases have been disabled, the Super Pass is now free, and existing players can continue playing until the shutdown.

Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble has been cancelled, with Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Oh BiBi confirming that the free-to-play mobile shooter will close permanently on May 1, 2027.

The announcement comes almost a year after the game’s November 2025 reveal, ending plans for a worldwide release following several regional soft launches.

According to the shutdown announcement which appears straight on the homepage of the official website, development has ended, with the final planned update rolling out on November 6, 2026.

Three dates have been confirmed:

  • November 6, 2026: The final planned game update begins rolling out.
  • November 21, 2026: Ranger Rumble is removed from the App Store and Google Play.
  • May 1, 2027: Game servers permanently shut down, making the game unplayable.

Players who already have the game installed can continue playing after November 21. However, the developer confirms that Ranger Rumble will no longer load once its servers shut down, meaning there will be no offline alternative.

Existing multiplayer matchmaking, competitive features and game modes will remain operational until the end-of-service date.

What Happens to Ranger Rumble Purchases and Rewards?

Oh BiBi has also detailed how the closure affects players who have spent money or earned rewards.

All in-app purchases have been removed, while the Super Pass is now free. Qwark Pass seasons will continue until May 1, 2027, with players able to earn and claim rewards during the remaining months.

Unused in-game currency can still be spent on upgrades, cosmetics and characters, but any remaining currency will become unusable when the servers close.

The developer has confirmed that account progress, purchases and unlocked items cannot be transferred to another game. Player data will also be deleted from the servers when the service ends.

Anyone seeking a refund for previous purchases must check their eligibility through Apple’s App Store or Google Play.

I would encourage existing players to claim outstanding rewards and use any remaining currency before May 1. The shutdown FAQ makes it clear that those items will have no use once the service closes.

The cancellation also marks a sharp reversal from July, when Oh BiBi described the game as preparing for its worldwide launch following regional testing.

Originally announced for Android and iOS in November 2025, Ranger Rumble offered multiplayer arena battles featuring familiar characters, weapons and movement mechanics from the PlayStation franchise.

The game subsequently launched in selected regions, including Canada and the United Kingdom, but never progressed to its planned worldwide release.

Oh BiBi has not publicly provided a specific reason for cancelling the project.

Importantly, the developer confirms that Ranger Rumble’s closure does not affect other Ratchet & Clank games or PlayStation services. Sony has not officially announced a new mainline Ratchet & Clank game.
