Blow up the beach balls and slather on that SPF 30; Overwatch 2’s annual Summer Games have made their sizzling return for 2023. Whether you’re a seasoned vet or a rookie, gear up for new game modes, stack up on gratis cosmetics, and surf the store for some sunshine-tinted skins that are hot, hot, hot!

Overwatch 2 Summer Games Event: The Tradition Continues

Like a well-timed scoop of ice cream, the Summer Games event in Overwatch 2 sweetens the hot season each year. Picture the spirit of your beachy summer getaway and the competitive edge of the Olympics smooshed together. What’s left is a feast of eye-catching cosmetics and thrilling activities every year.

This 2023 edition of the Summer Games, however, is shaking things up. Tropical Doomfist Epic skin – sounds fancy, right? It’s up for grabs just by tackling challenges in Overwatch 2 during the event.

Aside from flexing your Doomfist skin and boasting the accompanying On Vacation Victory Pose, you can accumulate a bevvy of sprays, player icons, charms, and plenty of XP for the Battle Pass. All that just for meeting the challenges head-on.

Meet the Newcomer: Winston’s Beach Volleyball Joins Overwatch 2

In the 2023 lineup of the Overwatch 2 Summer Games is a shiny new arcade mode – Winston’s Beach Volleyball. Picture Lucioball, but instead, it’s a 3v3 volleyball face-off, where teams show off their dexterity in sandy warfare, trying to land the colossal ball on the opponent’s side. First to the 10-point finish line grabs the bragging rights.

Don’t fret, Lucioball fans. The event will also feature the beloved game mode, complete with all three Lucioball maps and the multi-ball chaos of Lucioball Remix mode. Many of the Summer Games challenges require your talent in Winston’s Beach Volleyball or Lucioball, so don’t be shy, get stuck in!

Surf the Store: New and Returning Skins

As tradition dictates, a smorgasbord of fresh and returning Summer Games skins will flood the shop. One to keep an eye out for is Mercy’s Lifeguard skin, teamed with the Baywatch-esque Rescue Run Highlight Intro. Grab these skins in this massive content drop and join in the event until it wraps up on July 24th.

In addition to all the hullabaloo, the FPS has unveiled a new event UI on the main menu. This polished interface (a welcome supplement to the existing Challenges section) offers a clear view of character progress, event duration, and handy shortcuts to necessary game modes. Fingers crossed that Overwatch 2 maintains and polishes this nifty feature in future events.

Currently, Overwatch 2 is up for grabs on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
