Alien and Ripley Bring Cosmic Sci-Fi Horror to Dead by Daylight

Dead by Daylight Alien Crossover

Key Highlights:

  • Dead by Daylight’s latest chapter introduces the Xenomorph and Ellen Ripley.
  • Includes a new Nostromo map inspired by Ridley Scott’s 1979 Alien film.
  • Blends sci-fi horror atmosphere with Dead by Daylight’s asymmetrical survival gameplay.

“In space, no one can hear you scream.” That tagline still sends shivers down my spine, and now it’s echoing through Dead by Daylight’s fog-drenched realms. Behaviour Interactive has brought one of cinema’s most terrifying creatures into its horror universe – the Xenomorph – alongside Ellen Ripley herself.

The new Alien chapter marks another major licensed crossover for Dead by Daylight, drawing directly from Ridley Scott’s classic 1979 sci-fi horror. It adds Ripley as a Survivor and the Xenomorph as the Killer, with the Nostromo Wreckage map recreating the film’s claustrophobic tension.

Playing as the Xenomorph feels exactly as it should – fast, stealthy, and absolutely ruthless. Its Crawler Mode lets it slip through air vents before launching ambushes from the shadows. Survivors, meanwhile, can fight back using sentry turrets and environmental traps to hold it at bay, though it rarely stays down for long.

Ellen Ripley’s Resilient Survivor Perks

The addition of Ellen Ripley balances the equation. Her unique Survivor perks reflect her cinematic grit: faster recovery from exhaustion, noise-based diversions, and stealth abilities that let her slip away just when things look bleak. Behaviour has clearly captured her essence – resourceful, calm, and determined even when facing the impossible.

I’ve played Dead by Daylight since its early days, and I can say few chapters have nailed atmosphere like this one. The sound design alone is brilliant: the metallic echo of corridors, the hiss of the alien, the faint hum of machinery that feels ripped straight from the Nostromo. It’s proof that the developers understand what makes Alien terrifying, it’s not just the monster, it’s the anticipation of it.

Beyond gameplay, this chapter also shows how far Dead by Daylight has evolved. What began as a celebration of slasher horror has grown into a broader love letter to pop culture, welcoming icons from Halloween to Resident Evil and even Nicolas Cage. Adding Alien cements Behaviour’s knack for expanding the universe while staying true to its horror roots.

For longtime fans like me, the Alien chapter feels both nostalgic and fresh. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it just reminds us why Alien remains one of the best examples of cinematic fear. The Nostromo map, the faithful creature design, and Ripley’s presence all combine into something that feels like a genuine tribute.

Dead by Daylight is out now on PC, Mobile Devices, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
