Developer GameMill Entertainment has revealed that iconic villain Princess Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender will join the roster of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2. She will be among the cast of beloved characters from Nickelodeon shows who will face off in the crossover fighting sequel releasing next month.

Officially announced in July, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 builds on the well-received game mechanics of its 2021 predecessor while promising improvements and additions like expanded single player options. As in the original, the game takes inspiration from Nintendo’s hit Super Smash Bros series, letting players battle using colourful Nicktoon characters.

In a trailer showcasing Azula’s aggressive firebending fighting style, GameMill welcomed the sinister princess as the latest playable fighter. The footage displays Azula unleashing torrents of blue flames and lightning abilities against the likes of Ren and Stimpy. Seeing such disparate personalities clash exemplifies the bizarre matchups the unconventional crossover fighter allows.

The inclusion of Azula is exciting news for Avatar fans. Her serious demeanor stands out against the sillier characters on the roster. Azula joins Aang as playable Avatar representatives, with the heroic Airbender returning from the first game.

Massive Crossover Roster Gets More Diverse

Azula is just one of many newcomers ready to brawl, including the likes of Rocko, Jimmy Neutron, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Raphael, and more. Fan favourites like SpongeBob and Plankton will also reprise their roles. The diverse new additions aim to enhance the sequel’s appeal.

GameMill and developers Ludosity and Fair Play Labs have focused on dramatically improving all areas for the follow-up, from visuals to mechanics to modes. Brand new Supers let players unleash devastating blows, and full voice acting adds excitement to the action.

A unique roguelike single-player campaign has been created where players battle to prevent villain Vlad Plasmius from conquering the Nickelodeon multiverse. Zany minigames expanding the experience beyond combat are also being introduced.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 Azula Gameplay

With cross-platform play allowing users on any system to compete and enhanced netcode optimising the online experience, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 seeks to perfect the formula established by its predecessor.

The first game garnered praise for smoothly adapting the Smash Bros style formula to the Nickelodeon universe. By retaining that core idea while ambitiously expanding every element, the sequel aims to fulfill the potential of an unconventional but inventive concept.

The passion behind stacking the playable roster with both A-list stars and cult favourites shows a developer that knows Nickelodeon and cares about representing its diverse history. With Azula firebending her way into the arena soon, the title is shaping up to be a love letter to Nick fans young and old.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 launches November 3rd for the Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
