Suicide Squad Gameplay Trailer Deep Dive Reveals Customisation and Quirky “Support Squad”
Rocksteady Studios recently hosted the second episode of its Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League behind-the-scenes series, offering the deepest look yet at the upcoming DC antihero co-op shooter. The Insider video showcases the title’s weapon crafting framework, offbeat support allies, and status effect augmentations when taking down Brainiac’s mind-controlled Justice League.
Custom Tailored Firepower With Weapon crafting
Kill the Justice League allows players to build out their arsenal utilising parts from distinct weapon manufacturers including STAR Labs, Amertek, LexCorp, and GCPD. Guns take on the unique stylistic flair of their associated brand like LexCorp’s science-fiction vibe.
Experimenting with various weapon crafting combinations caters to individual playstyles ranging from up close and personal to long distance sniping.
Wacky Support Squad
Backing up the titular Suicide Squad team of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark is a crew of supervillain support allies. These include the gadget-obsessed Gizmo, scheming Toyman, hacking specialist Hack, and iconic eco-terrorist Poison Ivy. The allies provide assistance like vehicle airdrops and combat buffs.
Inflicting Elemental Pain
Poison Ivy offers players special nature-themed weapon afflictions to debilitate Justice League targets. Upgrades like Deep Freeze completely encase enemies in ice while Diablo Blaqze sets heroes ablaze. Electrical and poison damage types round out the thorny options.
Outside of crafting implements of destruction, Squad members sport deep RPG-style progression for unlocking new abilities and skills. The previous gameplay trailer showcased the story elements and traversal tools like the grapple gun, jetpack and speed force gauntlet.
The next Insider Episode will detail Kill the Justice League’s post-launch content roadmap leading up to its February 2nd, 2024 launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. However, Epic Games Store pre-orders encountered unspecified issues resulting in full cancellation and refunds.
So while PC players planning to grab the co-op DC adventure on Epic will need to wait a bit longer, the brief delay thankfully won’t slow down Harley and friends’ mission to give the Justice League a much needed attitude adjustment.
