Bandai Namco has announced that Lidia Sobieska, the youngest Prime Minister of Poland and skilled karateka, will be joining the Tekken 8 roster on July 25th 2024. Players with the Tekken 8 Playable Character Year 1 Pass will have early access to Lidia from the 22nd of July.

Lidia’s addition to Tekken 8 comes as part of the game’s Season 1 DLC content.
The character, first introduced in last years instalment as downloadable content, brings her traditional karate style to the latest entry of the Iron Fist Tournament series.
Her gameplay is characterised by powerful, straightforward moves that cater to beginners while offering depth for advanced players.
Alongside Lidia’s arrival, the v1.06 update for Tekken 8 will be released on July 22nd.
This update will not include battle balance adjustments but will focus on behaviour fixes and quality-of-life improvements.
The developers have stated that further updates will continue after August.
Photo Mode, Seaside Resort stage and Free Content
A significant addition coming with the update is the new Seaside Resort stage, which will be available to all players for free.
This beach stage features dynamic time progression, shifting from daytime to sunset and night as the round progresses.
Additionally, a new Photo Mode will be introduced, allowing players to capture and share their favourite in-game moments.
The update also brings improvements to the Special Style function, enabling the execution of Specialty Moves and Air Combos from a crouching position. Players will also be able to enjoy Tekken Ball while waiting for online matchmaking.
Lidia’s gameplay in Tekken 8 revolves around four different stances: Cat, Horse, Striking Wolf, and Heaven & Earth.
Many of her moves transition into these stances, whether they land or are blocked, adding a layer of complexity to her fighting style.
The Heaven & Earth stance is particularly unique, only accessible during Heat Mode, and provides a permanent damage boost for the rest of the match.
To balance her strengths, Lidia is vulnerable to Power Crush and side steps, and reportedly lacks strong low attacks.
The development team has also revealed that Lidia will have three alternative costumes in addition to her default outfit.
It’s worth noting that Lidia is the second of four planned DLC characters for Tekken 8’s Season 1, following Eddy Gordo.
The developers have specifically timed her release to occur after EVO 2024, a major fighting game tournament.
With these additions and improvements, Tekken 8 continues to evolve and expand its content, offering players new ways to engage with the game and its growing roster of characters.
