The latest update to Tekken 8 brings a mix of fresh content and technical improvements to the popular fighting game. Patch 1.07, released on 2 September 2024, introduces new cosmetic options and addresses various gameplay issues, aiming to enhance the overall player experience.
The update adds two new costume packs to the Tekken Shop: the ‘Hibiscus Pack’ and ‘The Wildfire Pack’, available for all playable characters.
Players can also enjoy a new ‘Summer Set’ for avatar customisation and a free ‘Hook-and-Loop Sneakers’ item for character customisation.
Tekken Ball Replays Feature
A significant addition to the game is the ‘Tekken Ball Replays’ feature. This allows players to view replays of online Tekken Ball matches played in the Beach Area of the Fight Lounge. These replays can be accessed through the Online Replay section or viewed in My Replay & Tips, though without the usual tips display.
The patch also brings a host of bug fixes and gameplay adjustments.
Notable changes include improvements to Rage Arts, Heat Burst, and Heat Dash mechanics. Several characters, including Azucena, Bryan, Dragunov, and Lidia, have received tweaks to their move sets and hitboxes to address balance issues and reduce instances of attacks whiffing.
Stage-specific fixes have been implemented for Sanctum, Rebel Hanger, and Elegant Place, addressing issues with transitions, wall breaks, and visual effects.
The developers have also made adjustments to move cinematics, the move list display, and practice mode features.
These changes come just in time for Heihachi Mishima’s return as a DLC addition this Autumn. Although the Iron Fist community were not happy about microtransactions being added to the title, these little improvements go a long way to mending a love-hate relationship between the devs and fans.
Character Adjustments: Fine-Tuning the Roster
Character-specific changes are extensive, with over 20 fighters receiving various adjustments. These range from expanded hitboxes and improved tracking to modified behaviours on side and back hits.
Notable changes include damage output adjustments for Lars and corrections to Kazuya’s Floor Break mechanics.
For the full patch details on fighter adjustments, its best to see the detailed patch notes on the official Bandai Namco website.
While the patch doesn’t introduce major overhauls, it demonstrates Bandai Namco’s commitment to refining the Beat ’em up’s gameplay.
The focus on reducing whiffing attacks and improving move consistency should lead to more fluid and satisfying matches.
Players should note that the update will render some previous replay data unavailable, and Ghost Battle modes will reflect post-update character behaviours.
Update 1.07 will be automatically updating when you next launch Tekken 8 on your PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X/S console.
