IO Interactive’s James Bond project, 007 First Light, now has a firm release date of March 27th, 2026. The announcement came during Sony’s latest State of Play, where a deep dive revealed gameplay, the cast, and multiple preorder editions.
Gameplay and Cast
Patrick Gibson, best known for Dexter: Original Sin and The OA, will take on the role of James Bond. He’ll be joined by Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, and Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny.
New characters include John Greenway, played by Lennie James, and Miss Roth, portrayed by Noemie Nakai. Seeing IOI’s long-form storytelling style applied to Bond is intriguing. Having covered their Hitman trilogy extensively, I expect a balance of open-ended mission design with a strong cinematic narrative, which fits the Bond licence perfectly.

The 007 First Light Legacy Edition is the clear showpiece. The Golden Gun replica, complete with display stand, bullets, and hidden storage, feels like the kind of centrepiece collectors will want on their shelf.
Having got my hands on similar collector’s items in the past, I can say this one leans into authenticity more than flashy gimmicks. But for me, the price tag is a little heavy, I wouldn’t pay that much myself but for hardcore Bond fans out there i can see the allure.
007 First Light is shaping up to be a major release for March 2026. IOI’s proven track record with stealth-action design gives confidence, and the cast adds credibility to the story.
Remember, this game is also heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 upon release, so you handheld fans will not be missing out.
While the pricing of the Legacy Edition may divide opinion, the core package already offers a lot for fans.
