The Hitman series is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and IO Interactive is marking the milestone with a physical 25th Anniversary Edition of Hitman: World of Assassination for PS5.
This limited box set, priced at $49,99, €49,99, £44,99, comes with the base game, four celebrity DLC targets, a 3D shadowbox, and a lenticular card featuring Agent 47 front and centre.
It’s available through select retailers and IO’s official store, giving fans a tangible way to honour a franchise that’s defined stealth action for a quarter of a century. For those who prefer digital celebrations, IO Interactive will be hosting an anniversary livestream on October 21st at 3pm CET (9am EST) via the Hitman Twitch channel.
The stream will revisit key moments from the series’ history, feature special guests, and offer insights from the developers themselves. Some members of the IOI team are also appearing at Comic Con Denmark, giving fans a rare chance to hear directly about the studio’s creative process and future plans.
The Anniversary Edition isn’t the only celebration on offer. The Elusive Target mission featuring Bruce Lee is currently live and available for free until November 20th. Players can also buy the Bruce Lee Pack for $4.99 to unlock permanent access, along with themed extras.
The mission sees Agent 47 working alongside the martial arts legend to take down a target known as The Dragon, a clever crossover that’s been well-received by the community.
IO has also rolled out an update that fine-tunes mission balance and reduces the Arcade Mode cooldown timer, addressing community feedback directly.
Meanwhile, the entire Hitman franchise is seeing major discounts across platforms. The Hitman Collection, which bundles the first five titles, is down to $13.54, while iOS players can grab World of Assassination for 40% off between October 21st and 27th. The game has also recently expanded to iPhone and iPad, bringing the full experience of sandbox stealth to mobile for the first time.
It’s hard to overstate how much Hitman has influenced the genre since Codename 47 first launched in 2000.
IO Interactive’s long-term support has helped the series evolve without losing its identity, precision, disguise, and creativity remain its core. I’ve followed the franchise since its earliest days, and seeing how far it’s come reinforces how few studios maintain this level of consistency over two decades.
With the upcoming anniversary stream, a new collector’s edition, and the continuing evolution of World of Assassination, IO Interactive is ensuring that Agent 47’s legacy is both celebrated and expanded.
