Ubisoft is giving players a chance to experience Assassin’s Creed Shadows without paying, as the publisher prepares to launch a free trial for its Ubisoft+ Premium subscription service later this month.
Beginning on 18 June, PC and Xbox users will be able to access Ubisoft+ Premium free of charge for a limited period. The promotion runs until 23 June and grants access to a large catalogue of games, including Assassin’s Creed Shadows and its Claws of Awaji expansion.
The offer is only available through Ubisoft+ Premium, which is currently supported on PC and Xbox platforms. PlayStation users will not be included in the promotion, as the subscription service has yet to launch on Sony’s consoles.
While Assassin’s Creed Shadows is one of the headline attractions, the free trial covers a much wider selection of Ubisoft titles. Subscribers will be able to explore games such as Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 2, Far Cry 6, Star Wars Outlaws, For Honor, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora and Anno 117: Pax Romana, alongside dozens of other releases from the publisher’s library.
Ubisoft+ Premium normally costs £14.99 / $17.99 per month and includes access to premium editions of games, downloadable content and bonus rewards. One of its biggest selling points is day-one access to new Ubisoft releases, allowing members to play major titles as soon as they launch.
The six-day trial should provide enough time for players to sample Assassin’s Creed Shadows and decide whether they want to continue their adventure after the promotion ends. According to data from HowLongToBeat, completing the game’s main story takes roughly 35 hours, meaning most players are unlikely to see everything before the free access period expires.
Those who choose to remain subscribed after the trial will retain access to Ubisoft’s growing catalogue and future launches. Upcoming releases available through the service include Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and Rayman Legends Retold.
As additional information, Ubisoft confirmed that the free trial grants access to premium editions of supported games, meaning expansions and bonus content are included where applicable. Members who keep an active subscription also receive monthly in-game rewards and a 10% discount on virtual currency purchases.
Players interested in the promotion should note that payment information is required during sign-up. Unless cancelled before the trial concludes, subscriptions will automatically convert to a paid membership and begin charging the standard monthly fee.
