Epic Games has officially confirmed that Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 Battle Pass skins are making a comeback, with content from the Marvel-themed Absolute Doom season set to return via the Item Shop.
The announcement marks another major step in Epic’s new approach to Battle Pass cosmetics. For years, Battle Pass rewards were permanently exclusive, but that policy changed in 2024 when Epic confirmed that future Battle Pass items could return after 18 months. That waiting period has now expired for Chapter 5 Season 4, which originally ran from August 16 to November 2, 2024.
Epic teased the return with a social media post showing the vault doors opening once again, confirming that skins from the season will soon be available to purchase individually.
The original Absolute Doom Battle Pass included eight outfits:
- Gwenpool
- War Machine
- Peelverine
- Emma Frost
- Captain Jones
- Mysterio
- Shuri
- Doctor Doom
Additional bonus styles released during the season are also expected to return alongside the main outfits.
The return of Absolute Doom cosmetics represents the biggest test yet for Epic’s post-exclusivity era. Instead of keeping Battle Pass rewards locked away forever, the company now has the opportunity to continuously recycle older collaborations for a new audience. With Marvel skins historically among Fortnite’s most sought-after cosmetics, Chapter 5 Season 4 was always likely to become the first major stress test of that strategy.
Based on previous releases, individual skins could cost around 1,500 V-Bucks, while bundles containing cosmetics such as pickaxes, emotes and gliders may be priced closer to 2,000 V-Bucks.
According to leakers, the returning skins are expected to arrive with Fortnite’s next update. The original season featured a complete Marvel takeover, adding locations such as Castle Doom, Doomstadt, Isle of Doom and The Raft, alongside themed abilities and War Machine weaponry.
I’ve always thought Epic’s decision made sense in the long term. While early Battle Pass owners still got the best value, allowing cosmetics to return years later prevents newer players from being permanently locked out of some of Fortnite’s most iconic collaborations. It also gives Epic another way to monetise older content without creating as much fear of missing out.
The return comes during an especially busy period for Fortnite. Epic recently confirmed upcoming collaborations with Dave the Diver, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, Vampire Survivors, Phantom Blade Zero, Rick and Morty and Control, while a new Olivia Rodrigo crossover and a new The Simpsons collaboration for creators are also on the way.
Talking of collabs, there’s probably none bigger than the long-awaited Icon Skin for Fortnite legend Mongraal. Some what of a celebrity in the sphere, The Brit looks set to get his own skin after asking for it during (you guessed it) Chapter 5.
