The Simpsons Toolkit Is Coming to Fortnite Creators Later This Year

Key Highlights:

  • Disney and Epic Games are bringing The Simpsons toolkit to Fortnite creators later this year.
  • Developers will be able to build custom experiences using official characters, locations, and assets from Springfield.
  • The move follows the success of Fortnite’s Star Wars creator tools and the popular Simpsons season in 2025.

Disney and Epic Games have announced that The Simpsons will officially join Fortnite’s IP Partner Program later this year, giving creators access to Springfield and its iconic cast for custom experiences built in Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN).

The announcement was made during Unreal Fest Chicago 2026, where Disney Digital Entertainment senior vice president and head of product and development Ray Gresko confirmed that Fortnite developers will soon be able to create games featuring Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and other familiar faces using official assets.

The new toolkit expands Disney and Epic’s wider strategy of turning Fortnite into a social entertainment platform where creators can build experiences around some of the world’s biggest franchises.

Disney said the decision comes after the strong reception to the Star Wars creator tools. Community-made Star Wars islands attracted almost eight million players during the first 72 hours after launch. Experiences such as Galactic Siege and Escape Vader generated millions of plays, while Droid Tycoon became one of Fortnite’s most-played experiences during its debut week.

According to Disney, more than 80 million players spent around 780 million hours during the Fortnite x The Simpsons season in 2025. The animated short released alongside the crossover also reached the top of Disney+’s US charts.

Disney believes the long-running animated series offers broad appeal across generations, making Springfield a natural addition to the creator programme.

The Simpsons toolkit is being developed alongside 20th Television and Gracie Films and will provide creators with official characters, environments and visual assets designed specifically for UEFN.

Matt Selman, executive producer and showrunner of The Simpsons, said he was excited to see what Fortnite creators would build with the franchise.

Epic Games president Adam Sussman said player response to licensed content has shown that fans appreciate experiences created with care, adding that the new toolkit should allow developers to create experiences that appeal to both Fortnite and Simpsons fans.

Disney Games and Digital Entertainment executive vice president Sean Shoptaw said the company is continuing its vision of building a wider Disney entertainment ecosystem inside Fortnite. Following the success of Star Wars content, he described The Simpsons as the next major step in that plan.

The new creator tools represent another chapter in the growing partnership between Disney and Epic Games following Disney’s $1.5 billion investment in Epic in 2024.

Alongside Star Wars experiences and Disney-themed islands, Fortnite previously hosted a month-long Simpsons season featuring Springfield Island. Disney said the event reached around 80 million players and generated hundreds of millions of hours of gameplay.

Although a release date for the toolkit has not yet been announced, Disney confirmed that Fortnite creators will gain access to the assets later this year through the IP Partner Program.

Fans who enjoyed last year’s crossover can revisit some of its highlights, including the original reports on the Fortnite Simpsons Battle Pass, early crossover leaks, and the free Homer Simpson loading screen that was released during the event. Those previous collaborations helped lay the groundwork for what is now becoming a much bigger expansion of Springfield inside Fortnite.
