In Mortal Kombat 1, Ashrah has two Fatalities, one Animality, five Fighter Mastery Brutalities, two Seasonal Store Brutalities, and The Klassic. The repentant NetherRealm demon fights with an enchanted Kriss that she believes can purify her soul by destroying evil.
This guide covers all of Ashrah’s Mortal Kombat 1 finishers, including Heavenly Light, Threads Of Ill Fate, the NetherRazzle Animality, and every Brutality. Each section provides platform-specific inputs, Input Distance requirements, unlock methods, Final Hits, and Additional Conditions.
How to Perform Ashrah’s First Fatality in MK1 (Heavenly Light)
Input Distance: Jump Distance to Full Screen
Execution Difficulty: Easy
- PlayStation: ⬇️➡️⬇️🔺
- Xbox: ⬇️➡️⬇️🅨
- Nintendo Switch: ⬇️➡️⬇️🅧
Ashrah rises into the air and manifests a pair of bladed wings before sending multiple blades into her opponent. She then strikes the ground with her Kriss, releasing a wave of energy that burns through what remains of the victim.
Heavenly Light has a much larger working range than the generic Mid-Range description used by many move databases. When playing, I found its activation window from Jump Distance through to Full Screen.
How to Perform Ashrah’s Second Fatality in MK1 (Threads Of Ill Fate)
Input Distance: Jump Distance to Full Screen
Execution Difficulty: Easy
- PlayStation: ⬇️⬇️⬅️🅾️
- Xbox: ⬇️⬇️⬅️🅑
- Nintendo Switch: ⬇️⬇️⬅️🅐
Ashrah extends energy from her Kriss and lashes it around different sections of her opponent’s body. She pulls the glowing strands tight at the end of the sequence, causing the victim to separate into several pieces.
Threads Of Ill Fate shares the same Jump Distance to Full Screen activation window as Heavenly Light. Ashrah can therefore perform either Fatality without moving into Close or Sweep Distance.
Important: Ashrah can also perform the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Winter Fatalities if they are unlocked on the player’s account. These seasonal Fatalities are not unique to Ashrah and can be performed by other playable fighters.
How to Perform Ashrah’s Animality in MK1 (NetherRazzle)
Input Distance: Sweep Distance to Full Screen
Execution Difficulty: Easy
- PlayStation: ⬅️➡️⬇️🅧
- Xbox: ⬅️➡️⬇️🅐
- Nintendo Switch: ⬅️➡️⬇️🅑
Ashrah transforms into an alicorn, a winged unicorn, and charges into her opponent. The creature impales the victim’s head on its horn before finishing them with a blast of multicoloured fire.
NetherRazzle works from Sweep Distance through to Full Screen, giving Ashrah another finisher with a broad positioning window.
The transformation is also Ashrah’s first Animality in the Mortal Kombat series, as she did not appear in the trilogy-era games where Animalities originally featured.
For the animal transformation used by every other playable fighter, see our complete Mortal Kombat 1 Animality guide.
All Ashrah Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1
Ashrah has The Klassic and five character-specific Brutalities unlocked through Fighter Mastery. Save Me A Slice, Nail In The Coffin, Half Day?, Kutting Korners, and Light You Up unlock at Mastery Ranks 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15.
Two additional Brutalities were later added outside Ashrah’s Fighter Mastery progression. Just Heavenly and Air Slice arrived with the Khaos Reigns-era finisher additions and were sold through the Seasonal Store.
The Klassic
Unlock Requirement: Available by default
- PlayStation: ⬇️ + 🔺
- Xbox: ⬇️ + 🅨
- Nintendo Switch: ⬇️ + 🅧
Final Hit: Uppercut
Additional Condition: Hold Back Punch during the Final Hit.
Ashrah performs her Uppercut and removes the opponent’s head with an upward swing of her Kriss.
The Klassic is available without progressing Ashrah through Fighter Mastery and uses the same held Back Punch requirement as the universal version available across the roster.
Save Me A Slice
Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 3
- PlayStation: L1 or ⬜ + 🅧
- Xbox: LB or 🅧 + 🅐
- Nintendo Switch: L or 🅨 + 🅑
Final Hit: Demon Dance (Back Throw)
Additional Condition: Press Down three times during the Final Hit.
Ashrah completes Demon Dance by cutting vertically through her opponent with the final swing of her Kriss, splitting the victim upwards through the torso.
Begin tapping Down as soon as the Back Throw animation starts rather than waiting for the final sword strike.
Brutality Variation: Hold Up + Back Punch immediately after initiating a Back Throw to trigger the universal MK11-style Screen Throw Brutality instead of Save Me A Slice.
Nail In The Coffin
Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 5
- PlayStation: ➡️ + 🅾️, 🔺
- Xbox: ➡️ + 🅑, 🅨
- Nintendo Switch: ➡️ + 🅐, 🅧
Final Hit: Crown Cracker
Additional Condition: Hold Down during the Final Hit.
Ashrah completes Crown Cracker by cutting the opponent across the throat before driving her Kriss through the back of their head.
Nail In The Coffin uses a short two-hit Kombo, making the held Down condition the only additional execution requirement once the opponent is within finishing health.
Half Day?
Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 7
- PlayStation: ⬜, 🔺, 🔺
- Xbox: 🅧, 🅨, 🅨
- Nintendo Switch: 🅨, 🅧, 🅧
Final Hit: Cleansed Soul
Additional Condition: Hold Up during the Final Hit.
Ashrah completes Cleansed Soul with a final Kriss strike that slices the opponent horizontally through the waist.
Half Day? uses universal notation 1, 2, 2. Hold Up as the final Back Punch connects to convert the normal Kombo into the Brutality.
Kutting Korners
Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 10
- PlayStation: ⬅️➡️🔺
- Xbox: ⬅️➡️🅨
- Nintendo Switch: ⬅️➡️🅧
Final Hit: Spirit Slice
Additional Condition: Hold Down during the Final Hit.
Ashrah completes Spirit Slice and cuts diagonally through the opponent from the shoulder towards the waist, separating the body into two sections.
Kutting Korners has an unusual requirement because holding Down is already what turns Ashrah’s Astral Manifestation into Spirit Slice.
I found the cleanest way to execute it is to treat the Brutality requirement as part of the Special Move itself: enter Back, Forward, Back Punch and immediately keep Down held through the hit rather than trying to add Down at the end.
Light You Up
Unlock Requirement: Fighter Mastery Rank 15
- PlayStation: ⬅️ + 🅧, ⬜
- Xbox: ⬅️ + 🅐, 🅧
- Nintendo Switch: ⬅️ + 🅑, 🅨
Final Hit: Heaven’s Light
Additional Condition: Hold Forward during the Final Hit.
Ashrah completes Heaven’s Light by blasting through the opponent’s lower torso before following with a Kriss strike that removes their head.
The Kombo begins with Back + Front Kick, so transition to holding Forward as the final Front Punch connects.
Seasonal Store Brutalities
Ashrah received two additional Brutalities through the Khaos Reigns-era Seasonal Store. Just Heavenly and Air Slice were originally sold for 6,000 Seasonal Kredits each and remain usable once acquired.
Just Heavenly
Unlock Requirement: Seasonal Store
- PlayStation: ⬇️➡️⬜
- Xbox: ⬇️➡️🅧
- Nintendo Switch: ⬇️➡️🅨
Required Form: Heaven Mode
Final Hit: Heaven’s Beacon
Additional Condition: Hold Back Punch during the Final Hit.
Ashrah releases Heaven’s Beacon and sends a wave of light through the opponent, slicing their body vertically in half.
The Heaven Mode requirement is important. Ashrah begins a fight in Heaven Mode, where Down, Forward, Front Punch performs Heaven’s Beacon. After switching into Dark Stance, the same directional and attack input becomes Hell’s Pillar instead and cannot activate Just Heavenly.
If Ashrah has already changed stance, return to Heaven Mode before attempting the Brutality.
Air Slice
Unlock Requirement: Seasonal Store
- PlayStation: ↗️ + ⬜, 🔺, 🔺
- Xbox: ↗️ + 🅧, 🅨, 🅨
- Nintendo Switch: ↗️ + 🅨, 🅧, 🅧
Final Hit: Kritical Kriss
Additional Condition: Hold Up during the Final Hit.
Ashrah completes the airborne Kritical Kriss Kombo and cuts the opponent horizontally through the waist with her final sword swing.
Air Slice is Ashrah’s only character-specific Brutality performed from an aerial Kombo. Jump towards the opponent, begin Kritical Kriss while airborne, and keep Up held as the closing Back Punch connects.
Because the entire finishing sequence takes place in the air, entering the attacks too late in the jump can cause Ashrah to land before Kritical Kriss finishes.
Ashrah Fatalities and Brutalities Video Guide
NXN Arcade’s Ashrah finisher collection provides individual demonstrations for Heavenly Light, Threads Of Ill Fate, NetherRazzle, The Klassic, all five Fighter Mastery Brutalities, Just Heavenly, and Air Slice.
The later Khaos Reigns clips are particularly useful for confirming Just Heavenly’s held Back Punch requirement and the airborne timing needed for Air Slice.
In Mortal Kombat 1’s New Era, Ashrah’s pursuit of absolution is closely tied to her escape from Quan Chi’s influence, while Liu Kang later welcomes her into Earthrealm and helps her continue that path. You can explore our Quan Chi and Liu Kang finisher guides for their Fatalities, Animalities, and Brutalities.
