A new Hogwarts Legacy Chamber of Secrets mod has finally made one of the castle’s most famous locations explorable. Available on PC, the community-made release expands the game beneath Hogwarts with an original interpretation of the Chamber and the route leading towards it.
Created by maxshig_dev, KBNGaming 2, theTarya, and Dyserina, the Chamber of Secrets mod is available to download through CurseForge and goes considerably further than simply opening a previously locked room. Players travel through flooded corridors, old sewers, caverns, creature nests, and abandoned Slytherin areas as part of a new story-focused dungeon.
The release also arrives at a good time for Hogwarts Legacy’s modding community. Warner Bros. Games now officially supports PC mods that can be discovered directly through the game, giving creators dedicated support for expanding Avalanche Software’s original RPG.
That support has already resulted in improvements to the tools available to creators. Hogwarts Legacy’s official PC modding tools have continued to receive updates, providing a stronger foundation for projects that add content beyond the locations and quests included in the original release.
The Chamber project is one of the more ambitious examples. Its current download is around 390 MB and includes combat encounters alongside new environments, readable details, and environmental storytelling rather than functioning purely as a sightseeing mod.
Players are encouraged to enter with a sufficiently developed character, as the new areas contain enemies and encounters designed around an established playthrough.
How to Enter the Chamber of Secrets in Hogwarts Legacy
The entrance begins in the Witches’ bathroom near the Lower Grand Staircase. Players should head towards the Slytherin common room area before locating the bathroom opposite the Wizards’ facilities.
The bathroom itself already exists in the unmodded Hogwarts Legacy. The difference is that Avalanche Software’s original game does not allow players to descend into and explore the Chamber.
That makes the location another example of Hogwarts Castle containing recognisable secrets even when they are not always accessible. The base game already encourages players to investigate its architecture through hidden rooms, secret passages, and environmental challenges such as the Viaduct Courtyard Bridge puzzle. Warner Bros. also describes Hogwarts Castle as containing dungeons, secret passageways, and puzzles.
For the Chamber mod, completing Sebastian Sallow’s In the Shadow of the Study quest is the intended prerequisite. That requirement makes thematic sense because the quest takes players into Salazar Slytherin’s Scriptorium and deals directly with secrets associated with the Hogwarts founder.
What Is Inside the Chamber of Secrets Mod?
The journey below Hogwarts extends beyond the Chamber seen in the Harry Potter films. Players move through connecting underground environments before reaching the deeper areas of the dungeon, with creatures and combat encounters appearing along the way.
The creators have used flooded passages and ancient infrastructure to build a route beneath the school, while abandoned Slytherin spaces provide additional environmental details. The result is effectively a new dungeon built around the existing Chamber mythology rather than a recreation consisting of a single room.
There are some known issues in the current version. Activating the mod’s “Ron Weasley mode” enables Hogwarts Legacy’s Arachnophobia Mode but does not automatically disable it afterwards. Players may therefore need to switch the accessibility option off manually.
Changing window focus while certain dialogue or readable-note interfaces are open can also cause a cursor-related soft lock. If that occurs, the creators currently recommend restarting the game.
Those limitations are worth knowing before installing what is otherwise a substantial addition to the PC version.
The mod also demonstrates why Hogwarts Legacy’s setting remains particularly suitable for community expansion. The original game takes place during the 1800s, long before Harry Potter arrives at Hogwarts, giving creators considerable room to reinterpret familiar locations while working around a very different period in the school’s history. Warner Bros. confirms that Hogwarts Legacy itself is set in the 1800s rather than during the events of the books and films.
For players who have already explored the castle extensively, the Chamber of Secrets mod provides something the original release deliberately left out: the opportunity to travel beneath the bathroom entrance and see what a playable version of the legendary Slytherin dungeon could look like.
