Key Highlights:
- F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 become PlayStation Plus Monthly Games on 6 October.
- The three games carry a combined standard UK PlayStation Store price of £134.97.
- F1 25 only includes the base 2025-season game, while its separate 2026 Season Pack is not part of the Monthly Game entitlement.
Starting Tuesday, 6 October, PlayStation Plus members can add F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 to their libraries, with Sony keeping all three available to claim through Monday, 2 November.
Essential, Extra and Premium members are included because these are Monthly Games rather than additions to the rotating Game Catalogue.
Based on their standard UK PlayStation Store prices, October’s three games carry a combined value of £134.97:
| Game | Platform | Standard UK Price |
|---|---|---|
| F1 25 | PS5 | £69.99 |
| Hunt: Showdown 1896 | PS5 | £24.99 |
| Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 | PS5, PS4 | £39.99 |
| Combined | £134.97 |
That puts October only £4.99 below the £139.96 standard UK value of September’s four Monthly Games, despite Sony dropping back from four games to three.
The value comparison has become particularly relevant this year. Sony said in July that it continually balances the value offered to subscribers against customer cost while discussing the possibility of future PS Plus price changes.
F1 25 is comfortably the most expensive game in October’s line-up at its normal £69.99 UK Store price.
Codemasters’ racer includes the official 2025 Formula One season alongside Career, the redesigned My Team 2.0 and Braking Point 3, while online racing supports up to 22 players. The PS5 version is also PS5 Pro Enhanced.
There is an important catch for anyone expecting the current Formula One season.
October’s Monthly Game is F1 25 Standard Edition, not F1 25: 2026 Season Edition. EA launched a separate 2026 Season Pack in June containing the updated 2026 teams, drivers, cars and regulations, including Audi and Cadillac and the MADRING circuit. That add-on normally costs £24.99 on the UK PlayStation Store and requires F1 25 to use.
The 2026 content has since expanded further with the current Formula 2 season, updated liveries and other changes, but those additions remain tied to the Season Pack or 2026 Season Edition rather than the base game PlayStation Plus is supplying.
I think that’s important to know before claiming F1 25. It is still the complete base game, but somebody seeing it added to PS Plus in late 2026 could reasonably assume the current-season content comes with it when that is actually sold separately.
Hunt: Showdown 1896 brings a completely different kind of multiplayer experience.
Crytek’s extraction shooter mixes PvP with PvE as Hunters track monsters and bosses, secure Bounties and attempt to extract without being killed by rival players. It is online-only, supports up to 12 players and requires PlayStation Plus for online play.
Its PS5-only appearance in October also has some history behind it. Crytek retired the original PS4 version in August 2024 when Hunt: Showdown transitioned into Hunt: Showdown 1896, moving console development onto PS5 and Xbox Series X|S alongside the CRYENGINE 5.11 upgrade. Existing PS4 owners received an upgrade path, with their progress and purchases carrying forward.
The current version is therefore considerably different from the Hunt that originally appeared on last-generation hardware. Its 1896 relaunch introduced native 4K/60fps output on PS5, Mammon’s Gulch and substantial improvements to graphics, lighting, audio and performance.
New subscribers are also arriving shortly after Crytek’s Blood Testament update, which introduced its largest Hunt event of 2026 alongside matchmaking changes, new Traits, gameplay balancing and a system that reimburses Hunt Dollars when a player is confirmed to have been killed by a cheater.
Sony is adding another bonus around the same game. A separate Hunt: Showdown 1896 Starter Pack becomes available to PlayStation Plus members on 6 October as part of its HorrorFest promotion. Sony has not detailed the contents in its announcement, but confirms that the base game must be owned to use the pack.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 completes the line-up and is October’s only game explicitly offered on both PS4 and PS5.
Its voxel-based version of the EDF universe allows players to build a four-character team from rescued Brothers and Sisters drawn from across the wider series. It supports four-player online co-op and two-player local split-screen on both PlayStation generations.
The presence of only one PS4-compatible Monthly Game continues the shift Sony announced in 2025. PlayStation said PS5 games would become the primary focus of Monthly Games and the Game Catalogue from January this year, with PS4 titles offered only occasionally or as part of cross-generation releases.
There are a couple of other PS Plus extras arriving around the October refresh.
Limited-edition Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars become available through Sony Pictures Core on 6 October at no extra cost to PlayStation Plus members, while HorrorFest also brings a Call of Duty: Warzone Horror Bundle on 1 October and an Overwatch 2 Draugr Reinhardt pack with five Tier Skips on 7 October.
Before October replaces the current selection, subscribers should make sure September’s games have been added to their libraries.
Sony’s announcement describes Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes as available through Monday, 5 October. Current UK Store listings are slightly more precise, showing the PlayStation Plus offers ending at 08:00 UTC on 6 October, or 9am BST in the UK.
Monthly Games do not become permanent purchases. Once claimed, however, they remain associated with the account and can be downloaded and played again whenever that player has an active PlayStation Plus membership.
That means there is little reason to skip adding any of October’s three games to the library, even if F1 25, Hunt or Earth Defense Force is not something you intend to play immediately.
