The new Assassin’s Creed game has just been announced officially by game developers Ubisoft. The next chapter will feature a brand new hero and a completely new time period as well.

Due for release next year in 2014, there’s no surprise that there is a follow up to the hugely successful Assassin’s Creed 3. It has sold well over 12 million individual units alone! Not bad going at all, and we can expect that figure to get even better with the arrival of a fourth installment.

The upcoming latest installment of the action-adventure video game will be titled Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. It is the sixth major installment in the “Assassin’s Creed” series. Its historical time-frame precedes that of “AC III” (2012), though its modern-day sequences succeed III’s own.

Ubisoft didn’t name what consoles the game would be on as of the time of this writing, but it was later confirmed to be first released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U in October 2013 and for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows in November 2013.
