Yes we’re not kidding, the Xbox Live Marketplace has had it’s name changed for re-branding and will now be known as the Xbox Games Store. You can log-in to your account to your official homepage right now and check this is legit for yourself! This could have just been some kind of glitch or some sort of tester that Microsoft were trying their hand at, but no, Joystiq actually asked Microsoft about the change and they responded with this statement:

That’s right, [Xbox Live Marketplace] is now called the Xbox Games Store, and will sit alongside the Xbox Music Store and Xbox Video Store.

“This is to make it easier for consumers to find content both on Xbox 360 today and Xbox One when it launches in November.

We do acknowledge that this piece of news isn’t exactly the biggest we’ll ever covered, but considering the home of Xbox was entitled Marketplace for over 8 long and enjoyable years, it seems slightly weird. The re-branding does come courtesy of the next-gen system making it’s way this fall.
