Arkane Studios has released the PC requirements for Redfall, and to achieve the maximum graphical capacity, gamers’ computers must have at least 32 GB of RAM. This requirement for Redfall appears to be part of a concerning trend in 2023, where some new games demand outrageous specs to enable gamers to reach the best quality settings.

Arkane Studios, known for multiple successful games like the Dishonored series and Prey, is gearing up to launch Redfall soon. This new open-world action game will let players eliminate vampires in Massachusetts, either in single-player mode or through co-op with up to four friends. Although most fans eagerly await the title, Redfall’s development has faced controversies, such as the cancelation of Redfall for PS5, which upset many gamers. This is particularly concerning as Microsoft is currently trying to convince regulators to approve its purchase of Activision Blizzard, and Sony console owners fear losing access to even more games.

You’ll Need Space & A Decent PC

Redfall will soon arrive on Xbox Game Pass, and players who want to try it on PC can now learn about the necessary specs. To meet the minimum requirements, a system must have an Nvidia GTX 1070, an Intel Core i-8400, and a minimum of 16 GB of RAM. Although high, it is within the expected range for a new AAA game. The recommended specifications for Redfall are slightly more demanding, requiring an RTX 2080, an Intel Core i7-9700K, and a minimum of 16 GB of RAM. However, Arkane has not explicitly defined what Minimum and Recommended mean in these instances, making it difficult to determine the game’s performance before launch.

The Ultra setting for Redfall, which likely involves playing at 4K with 60 FPS, is especially striking. Gamers who want to attempt it can still use an i7-9700K processor but might need an RTX 3080 and an incredible 32 GB of RAM. Regrettably, a trend of games demanding extremely high RAM requirements has emerged recently. For example, Diablo 4 will also necessitate 32 GB of RAM for those who want to play it at its highest-quality settings.

Nevertheless, PC players disappointed with the 32 GB requirement for Ultra specs should remember that Xbox gamers will likely face even more significant challenges with the title. According to Arkane Studios, Redfall will only have a quality mode for consoles at launch, running at 30 FPS on Xbox Series X/S consoles—far from what players expect from a game produced by such a prominent company.
