As Street Fighter 6’s launch date approaches, Capcom has unveiled plans for an open beta period where players can test out the game before its release. This announcement comes on the heels of a second closed beta that showcased several features that were well-received by players in comparison to the previous title, Street Fighter 5.
As a highly anticipated entry in the long-standing fighting game series, Street Fighter 6 has fans eager for its success after Street Fighter 5 was met with criticism. Capcom recently released a free single-player demo of Street Fighter 6 for PS4 and PS5 players, showcasing the game’s graphics, art, and multiple control options. With high stakes and plenty of customisation options, the open beta period is an exciting opportunity for fans to test the game’s features before its release.

Lasting for only 72 hours. Players who are interested can begin to download the open beta in advance, starting from 16th May at 7:00 am BST (British Summer Time). Unlike the previous two closed beta tests, the open beta will include cross-play for PS5, Xbox, and Steam players, allowing them to challenge each other. However, PS4 players will have to wait until the game’s full release to play. The open beta will boast the character creator, battle hub, and the identical eight fighters that graced the second closed beta, incorporating the beloved Ryu and the fresh-faced Luke, a rookie fighter, who’s distinctly showcased on the game’s front page.
Additionally, the Street Fighter 6 open beta requires 25 GB of storage space, a smaller size than the 42 GB required for the second closed beta. The full release will require 60 GB once pre-downloads are available later this month. Capcom has advised players to ensure they have enough space and link their Capcom ID to their chosen system.
Finally, the developers has indicated that the open beta might undergo maintenance at certain times and requested players to keep an eye on social media for any announcements or updates. With the imminent launch, open beta, and single-player demo, hype for Street Fighter 6 is at an all-time high. The game will be released on June 2 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
