This third act in Insomniac’s thrilling trilogy, following the antics of our beloved web-head in Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, is notably one of PlayStation’s initial exclusive PS5 titles. It seems Sony might be slipping into its spidey-suit to bid a subtle goodbye to the PlayStation 4. The length of Miles Morales wasn’t a hit with the fans, but we’re betting our last spider-web that this won’t be the case with this upcoming installment.
Thanks to the info-miners at Twisted Voxel, we now know the pre-load details for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, revealed via a pre-ordered digital copy that marks October 13th, 2023, as the expected auto-download date. Besides the game, the pre-load also offers an essential update for launch day, which physical copy holders will need to install upon launch.
To add to this, there’s also a rumour of a Day 1 patch – a little extra update to ensure a silky-smooth start to your web-slinging journey. Unfortunately though, there won’t be a playable demo that fans can get their hands on as that’s been completely ruled out altogether.
When Can You Pre-Load Spider-Man 2?
The web slinging game can be pre-loaded on Friday, October 13 at 2pm UK time/6am PT!
The exact file size for Spider-Man 2 is currently shrouded in mystery, but the fanbase is crossing their fingers for it to land under 100GB, given that the physical copy of the game only includes one disc. But don’t bank on it, this game is built exclusively for the PS5. Which might mean bigger visuals, bigger gameplay upgrades, and therefore, a bigger file size. The double-sized map compared to its predecessor further hints at a hefty size, possibly over the 100GB mark.
New Features Weave a Tantalising Web
Among the exciting new features, character switching in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 seems to be hogging the limelight. The director of the upcoming title Bryan Intihar revealed that players can alternate between Miles and Peter during open-world exploration, despite there being specific story and side missions for both.
