Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 digital pre-orders are expected to become available to pre-load on Friday, October 13, giving PS5 players one week to download the game before its October 20 release.
The date comes from auto-download information displayed through the PlayStation Store for users who have digitally pre-ordered Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
According to a report from Twisted Voxel, the listed pre-load time is October 13 at 9am ET, equivalent to 6am PT and 2pm BST.
Pre-loading allows the game files to be downloaded before release but does not provide early access. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will remain locked until its official launch on October 20.
The arrangement gives players with slower internet connections additional time to download the full game rather than beginning the installation when it becomes playable.
The exact download size is not yet known. Twisted Voxel reports that the pre-load information was discovered through a pre-ordered digital copy, but the PlayStation Store does not currently provide a final file size for the game.
That means claims about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 exceeding 100GB should be treated as speculation for now. The sequel is being developed exclusively for PS5, but that alone does not establish how large the final installation will be.
The October 13 pre-load date follows confirmation that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20, giving digital pre-order customers seven days to prepare the game before release.
Unless PlayStation changes the listed schedule, digital buyers should therefore be able to begin downloading Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from October 13 while waiting until the following Friday to start playing.

The live pre-load also resolved the unanswered file-size question. The initial installation was approximately 86.3GB, although the amount of storage required could vary with regions, localisation data and subsequent updates.
That put the actual pre-load below the speculative 100GB figure discussed before the download became available. Digital players who downloaded the game in advance were able to have it installed ahead of its October 20 launch without receiving early access.
