Nintendo Officially Announce Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD After Renaming The Game From The Original.

During September’s Nintendo Direct, the house lights dimmed on Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, an enhanced Nintendo Switch revamp of 2013’s 3DS frightfest. New gameplay footage revealed the green plumber’s spooky sequel creeps onto Switch in Summer 2024.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 originally released as Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, once again seeing Mario’s easily-spooked brother investigate paranormal disturbances. This time the setting shifts to Evershade Valley’s various themed mansions.
Armed with upgraded ghostbusting gadgets like a strobing flash bulb, Luigi must round up spectral troublemakers who’ve shattered the mystic Dark Moon. Each mansion presents unique environmental puzzles and hazards tied to its motif.

The Direct footage showcased the game’s vibrant new HD visuals while retaining familiar locales and objectives.controls also utilise Switch’s gyro for enhanced camera movement during hectic hunts.
While keeping core content intact, the remake refines Dark Moon’s already excellent 3DS foundation for modern platforms. Smoother performance and higher fidelity visuals amp up the spooky atmosphere.
Fans will still have quite the wait though, as Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD won’t launch until Summer 2024, over a year away. But anticipation now builds for Luigi’s ghost-wrangling return.
The revived adventure also continues Nintendo’s steady stream of 3DS upgrades. As Switch’s library expands, reimagined portable classics like Kid Icarus Uprising seem likely candidates down the road.

Of course the ScareScraper co-op mode also returns, letting multiple Luigis speedrun ghost infested towers together. More frightful multiplayer mayhem awaits as well.
For now, the 2023 Direct has set the stage for the iconic plumber’s next round of ghastly game hunting next summer. With Mario missing once again, his easily-startled sibling answers the call to contain wonky ghosts across cleverly designed mansions.
The 3DS original remains one of the handheld’s most memorable gems.
