Key Highlights:
- A leaked Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 title screen shows Harry Osborn looking towards the symbiote inside a containment chamber.
- Another reported title screen features Peter Parker and Miles Morales together, raising questions about whether the menu changes.
- The images have surfaced ahead of the game’s October 20, 2023, release on PS5.
A title screen from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has surfaced online ahead of the game’s October 20 PS5 release, showing Harry Osborn facing a containment chamber holding the alien symbiote.
The image, circulated on social media in late September, depicts a laboratory illuminated by green lighting, with the symbiote’s black tendrils visible inside the chamber.
Its appearance recalls the post-credits scenes from the original Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which established Norman Osborn’s attempts to treat his son Harry using the mysterious organism.
The leaked menu reinforces the importance of that storyline in the upcoming sequel, although it does not reveal precisely how Harry and the symbiote will become involved in the main events.
Insomniac Games has already confirmed Venom as a major antagonist but has deliberately withheld the character’s identity. During the June reveal of Venom, creative director Bryan Intihar confirmed that Eddie Brock would not be the person behind the character in this version of the story.
A separate title screen has also circulated online, reportedly showing Peter Parker and Miles Morales overlooking New York City.
The existence of these different images has prompted speculation that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 might change its title screen depending on the player’s story progress. However, neither the leaked screenshots nor the accompanying reports establish how the menu system works.
What catches my attention is the contrast between the two reported screens. One emphasises the partnership between Peter and Miles, while the other places the symbiote and Harry’s treatment at the centre of the game’s presentation.
With advance review copies already in circulation and the review embargo expected to lift on October 16, further information may emerge before launch.
Later update: Following release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 confirmed that Harry Osborn becomes Venom after the symbiote leaves Peter Parker. The laboratory imagery was therefore connected to a central part of the story, although the leaked title screen itself did not confirm Harry’s identity as Venom ahead of launch.
