Key Highlights:

  • WWE 2K24 confirms Mick Foley’s Dude Love persona is playable
  • Teaser arrives ahead of wrestling game’s release next month
  • Hints that Foley’s other alter egos like Mankind could also appear
  • Follows announcement that Bray Wyatt’s The Fiend is returning

With the release of WWE 2K24 fast approaching in March, developer 2K Games has started providing more details on which wrestlers will be included on the playable roster. In a timely Valentine’s Day reveal, it was confirmed that one of Mick Foley’s famous alter egos, Dude Love, will be making his return to the game series.

The teaser image offers the first look at Dude Love’s upgraded in-game character model, showing improvements to aspects like his signature hairstyle and accessories. Dude Love last appeared in the previous entry, but was restricted to the MyFaction mode.

Past Games Included All Personas

While Dude Love’s confirmation is welcome news for Mick Foley fans, it also hints at the potential return of Foley’s other personas – Mankind and Cactus Jack. In the past, the popular wrestling titles featured all three of Foley’s alter egos as separate playable wrestlers. However, recent entries have only included one or two at a time.

The last WWE game to contain Foley’s complete set of personas was 2K18 over five years ago. Many fans responded to the Dude Love reveal by expressing hopes that 2K24 marks the return of having Foley’s full repertoire available.

Unique Models Brought to Base Roster

Part of the reason for optimism around Mankind and Cactus Jack appearing is 2K’s claims that WWE 2K24 will bring many unique character models formerly restricted to other modes into the base roster. Special personas like Bray Wyatt’s Fiend were previously locked in MyFaction.

Now The Fiend has been confirmed as fully playable in WWE 2K24’s main game. Applying this same treatment to Foley’s personas would be consistent with 2K’s promises. While his absence from Showcase mode limits chances, unlocking his other characters would please fans.

Release Coming Next Month

WWE 2K24 is scheduled to launch in March 2024, commemorating 40 years of WrestleMania. Alongside the Showcase story mode, it boasts upgraded graphics, new match types and improved Creation Suite options.

Additional roster reveals are expected in the coming weeks as the release date approaches. An image also confirmed women’s tag team Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, plus classic faction The Hart Foundation.

Most Complete WWE Game?

If 2K Sports ultimately includes all of Mick Foley’s personalities, plus other previously restricted legends, then WWE 2K24 has the potential to feature the most stacked wrestling video game roster ever.

While Cactus Jack and Mankind are still not guaranteed, the Dude Love teaser sparks optimism around Foley’s long-awaited complete return. Combined with all the other upgrades and match types, WWE 2K24 could become a must-play entry in the long-running wrestling series when it launches next month across PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms.
