Resident Evil Mod Starring Brad Vickers Unveiled

The Resident Evil franchise has captured the imagination of gamers for nearly three decades with its iconic blend of horror and action. A big part of its enduring appeal has been the games’ replayability and longevity, boosted by a passionate modding community.

Now, one of the series’ most notable side characters is finally getting a chance to take centre stage.

Seasoned Resident Evil modder KomizoLabs has begun development on an ambitious new project – a mod that will depict the harrowing events of the classic Resident Evil games from the perspective of Brad Vickers. A new teaser which you can watch on his channel, showcases 6 minutes of gameplay for the project.

A former member of the Raccoon Police Department’s elite S.T.A.R.S. unit, Brad played minor yet pivotal roles across the original Resident Evil trilogy.

Bridging the Gap

While light on concrete details for now, the Brad Vickers mod is billed as a “crossover” that stitches together the storylines of Resident Evil 2 and 3.

KomizoLabs plans to merge maps and locations from both games to craft an interconnected narrative experience following Brad’s actions throughout the zombie outbreak.

The idea stems from Brad’s unique status as the only character present for the seminal incidents that kickstarted the entire Resident Evil plotline. He served as the catalyst that first embroiled series protagonists Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in the dangerous T-Virus saga. Giving him a leading role allows the modder to revisit familiar haunts while injecting a fresh viewpoint.

Early Tech Demo

Though still very early in development with no fixed release window, a recently-unveiled tech demo for the mod has already generated buzz.

The preview footage seamlessly blends assets from the fan-favourite Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, showcasing familiar environments like the Raccoon City Police Station and the sewer level.

Character models look incredibly polished too, with an updated Brad model front-and-centre.

Clearly, KomizoLabs’ prior work overhauling those remakes laid strong groundwork for this ambitious crossover project.

The modder credits experience gained from extensive previous RE mods like the Resident Evil 2 Overhaul and Nemesis Scenario projects.

A Modding Revelation

The Resident Evil series has cultivated a vibrant modding scene ever since its humble beginnings on the PlayStation in 1996. Even right now a talented group of fans are in the middle of modding the original game with Unreal Engine 5 at its core.

Passionate fans have constantly found ingenious ways to remix and reinterpret Capcom’s survival horror classics over the decades. Some mods provide fun twists like new playable characters or weapons, while others go so far as to design wholly original storylines and campaigns.

KomizoLabs’ Brad Vickers project continues this proud tradition, offering an exciting new lens through which to experience the iconic early RE lore.

By thrusting a side character into the spotlight, it could very well breathe fresh life into the franchise’s origins while encouraging fans to re-examine the games from a brand new vantage point.

With Capcom itself also continuing to actively revisit and remake past titles in addition to churning out new mainline sequels, it’s a great time for fans both new and old.

The constant stream of new content – whether official or unofficial fan creations – ensures the survival horror powerhouse remains as thrilling and engrossing as ever before.
