PlayStation gamers, get ready for an action-packed August! Sony has just announced the latest batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers, and it’s a cracking lineup that’s sure to please a wide range of players.

From galaxy-spanning adventures to spine-chilling horror and moody action RPGs, there’s something for everyone this month.

Starting from 6th August, PlayStation Plus members will be able to add three new games to their digital libraries: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach, and Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights.

These games will be up for grabs until 2nd September, giving players a whole month to claim these titles.

The official X/Twitter account tweeted out what’s new this month as seen above.

Let’s take a closer look at what’s on offer:

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (PS4, PS5)

First up is a game that’s sure to delight both Star Wars fans and LEGO followers.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the latest offering from Traveller’s Tales, and it’s their most ambitious LEGO game yet.

This title lets players experience all nine films from the main Star Wars saga, but with that classic LEGO twist of humour and charm.

What sets this game apart is its sheer scope. You can play through the stories of all three trilogies, choosing where to begin your journey.

Fancy starting with the prequels? Go for it! More of an original trilogy fan? Jump right in! The game boasts hundreds of playable characters from across the Star Wars universe, from iconic heroes and villains to lesser-known background characters.

But it’s not just about the characters. It also lets you pilot a variety of vehicles, both on land and in space.

Fancy taking the Millennium Falcon for a spin? You can do that. Want to hop into an X-wing for some dogfighting action? That’s an option too.

The game aims to be the ultimate LEGO Star Wars experience, and from what we’ve seen, it might just live up to that lofty goal.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach (PS4, PS5)

For those who enjoy a good scare, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach offers a fresh take on the popular horror franchise.

This selection moves away from the series’ traditional format, offering a more open-ended and immersive horror experience.

In Security Breach, players take on the role of Gregory, a young boy who finds himself trapped overnight in Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex.

It’s a child’s dream turned nightmare, as the seemingly fun-filled entertainment centre becomes a terrifying labyrinth of danger after dark.

What’s interesting about this instalment is that Freddy Fazbear himself, usually the main antagonist, becomes your ally.

You’ll need to work with Freddy to survive the night and escape the clutches of other reimagined Five Nights at Freddy’s characters, as well as new threats lurking in the shadows.

The game’s setting in a sprawling pizzaplex allows for more exploration and strategy than previous titles in the series.

You’ll need to manage your resources, hide from threats, and solve puzzles to make it through the night.

It’s a step up in complexity and scope from the original entries, offering a more involved and arguably more frightening experience.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights (PS4)

Rounding out the August lineup is Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights, a 2D action RPG that’s been drawing comparisons to fan-favourites like Hollow Knight and Dark Souls.

This game offers a darker, more atmospheric experience compared to the other titles this month.

Set in a ruined kingdom known as Land’s End, Ender Lilies tasks players with unravelling the mysteries of this fallen realm.

You’ll journey through a variety of haunting environments, from submerged forests to contaminated caverns and imposing castles.

The game’s art style is particularly noteworthy, with beautiful, melancholic landscapes that perfectly capture the game’s somber tone.

Gameplay-wise, Ender Lilies offers a challenging experience that will test your skills. You’ll face off against formidable bosses, each with their own unique patterns and abilities to learn and overcome.

But here’s where it gets interesting – upon defeating these bosses, you can recruit them as allies, adding their powers to your arsenal.

This mechanic adds a strategic layer to the game, as you decide which abilities to use in different situations.

It also ties into the title’s narrative, as you’re not just defeating these bosses, but freeing them from a curse – a nice touch that adds depth to the story.

While Ender Lilies doesn’t have a native PS5 version, PlayStation 5 owners need not worry. Thanks to backward compatibility, the game will run smoothly on Sony’s latest console.

This August lineup offers a nice balance of genres and experiences. It’s by far not the most amazing selection of titles we’ve ever seen and some maybe disappointed.

Yet, it is just the start of the month and if previous months are to be taken into consideration then the selections will only get better as the month goes on.

Remember, these games will be available to claim from August 6th to September 2nd. If you haven’t grabbed July’s offerings yet – Borderlands 3, NHL 24, and Among Us, you have until August 5th to add them to your library.

As we look forward to this exciting lineup, it’s worth noting that subscribers to the higher tiers of PlayStation Plus (Extra and Premium) have even more to look forward to.

While the additional games for these tiers haven’t been announced yet for August, they typically offer an even wider selection of titles to choose from. So stay tuned for when they arrive.
