Electronic Arts has announced an important update for The Sims 4 that aims to address a variety of issues currently plaguing the game, particularly those introduced with the recent Lovestruck Expansion Pack.
The Lovestruck Expansion, released on July 25th, debuted to a mixed reaction from the community due to the problems it caused.
These range from smaller graphical glitches to more pervasive issues, such as a bug that prevents players from initiating interactions in live mode.
Problems Acknowledged by EA
EA officially acknowledged some of these problems on August 6th, via a tweet from the Direct Communications X/Twitter account. This tweet confirmed that the upcoming patch will seek to eliminate error code incidents and a glitch causing distortion in glasses’ frames.
The update will also address “missing interactions,” likely referring to a known issue that causes some romantic interactions to sporadically disappear from the pie menu.
According to EA, the bug-fixing update is planned to roll out “within the next week,” so no later than Tuesday, 13th of August.
The company is expected to publish a detailed changelog describing the contents of the patch a few days before its release, continuing their recent practice of providing more transparency around their efforts to improve the strategy game.
Player reports suggest the Lovestruck Expansion has introduced a variety of other issues that Electronic Arts has yet to officially acknowledge.
These include problems with the Cupid’s Corner app’s filtering behaviour and the inability to add or replace holidays on the calendar.
Many players have also reported that the expansion causes romantic relationships to deteriorate too quickly.
What’s strange, is that there’s plenty of ways for the community to leave feedback via options on the site or in the official forums.
So why EA is not listening to their community is quite puzzling? Perhaps they know about problems surrounding the Cupid’s Corner app and are working in the background to try and find a positive fix.
The gaming giant has promised fans that the strategy title will be getting 15 major updates in the next year that include kits, stuff packs and expansions.
While some recent patches have addressed issues like Sims becoming “overly mean” or engaging in “inappropriate relationships,” it’s clear there is more work to be done.
This upcoming update represents EA’s attempt to tackle the most pressing problems introduced with the Lovestruck Expansion and restore stability to The Sims 4 experience.
